Occupational Therapist - 1.0 FTE (External)
Job Summary:
Brunswick Street Supportive Housing project provides 24/7, wrap-around support to 38 tenants who are 50+ to age in place. A multidisciplinary team of social workers, nurses, occupational therapist, physical therapist and continuing care assistants ensure each tenant has a support plan that meets the physical health, mental health and social needs. In addition, the team has housing support workers 24/7 to support tenants in maintain their tenancies and accessing services
The Occupational Therapist at The Oz Permanent Supportive Housing program is a core member of an interdisciplinary team, providing client-centered, trauma-informed occupational therapy services to senior residents. This role focuses on enhancing residents’ ability to participate in meaningful daily activities and live as independently and safely as possible within their home environment. Working with older adults experiencing complex physical, cognitive, emotional, and social challenges, the Occupational Therapist conducts comprehensive assessments, develops individualized care plans, and implements interventions that promote functional independence, wellness, and quality of life. Services are rooted in cultural responsiveness, respect for autonomy, and an understanding of the aging process and systemic barriers seniors may face.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in occupational therapy.
- Holds Nova Scotia College of Occupational Therapists Registration or eligibility.
- Holds current professional liability insurance.
- Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in a similar role that requires multiple demands and teamwork.
- Experience in non for profits and health care setting preferred but not essential.
- Experience working in a collaborative practice setting.
- Experience working with the unhoused community is an asset.
- Experience working in a diverse and multicultural environment.
