We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Compliance and Health and Safety Coordinator to join our team at Langs Bus Lines Limited (Langs). As a leader in student and passenger transportation, we service students and communities across Southwestern Ontario and are committed to providing the highest standards of training for our bus drivers and bus driver trainers.

 

The Opportunity

This critical role also ensures a safe and ministry compliant work environment for all staff across our 9 Ontario branches. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing all related health and safety programs, while also acting as the primary point of contact between Langs and the Ministry of Transportation for all driver certification matters.

 

Compliance:

·        Serves as the main point of contact between the Ministry of Transportation (MTO) and Langs Bus Lines, for any matter related to the Driver Certification Program (DCP) and is responsible for all related audits.

·        Document, track and manage all driver collisions and infractions

-         Notify insurance company of any collisions

-         Contact Paralegal, if needed, due to a collision with ticket charges

-         Assign recertification training to drivers, due to collisions and incidents

-         Monitor demerit points on drivers licenses

·        Oversees the completion of all DCP related tasks for Driver Trainees and Trainers, ensuring driver files are complete with current copies of all licences

·        Oversees all driver Medical Reviews, including insuring all completed medical reports are provided to the MTO

·        Ensure all Langs driver training material is current, accurate and compliant with DCP requirements.

·        Organize and lead monthly meetings with driver trainers, updating on any training changes and ensuring training consistency across all branches.

·        Liaise with all Branch Managers, keeping them up-to-date on driver training practices and receiving their feedback


Health & Safety:

·        Develop and update policies and safe work procedures that align with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and ministry regulations

·        Responsible for WSIB claims and incident tracking

·        Maintain recordkeeping of all inspections, H&S related training, incidents, and compliance documents

·        Perform Hazard Assessments, maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS)

·        Develop and deliver safety-related training modules and programs reflective of OHSA and Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development standards

·        Identify any hazards in the workplace and develop safe operating procedures

·        Complete regular site inspections

·        Responsible for all internal staff communications regarding Health & Safety items

 

What We Are Looking For

·        Completion of a post-secondary diploma in Health and Safety or a minimum of 2 years experience in an occupational health and safety role

·        Committed to completing the Ministry of Transportation’s School Bus Driver Improvement Instructor Workshop to facilitate all on-site School Bus Driver Improvement courses for drivers

·        Must become a certified Signing Authority under the MTO DCP program in good standing

·        Completion of Globally-Harmonized WHMIS training, a Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) certificate, a Certified in Standard First Aid & CPR/AED and working knowledge of ISO 45001 considered assets
