About Malatest
Malatest is one of Canada’s largest social research companies with offices in Victoria, Edmonton, Ottawa, and Toronto. Malatest is currently seeking Surveyors to administer surveys and gather data as part of our research in the marine transportation industry, in Greater Victoria, Nanaimo and Greater Vancouver.
About the role
While aboard BC Ferries you will administer survey interviews by engaging members of the public about their travel experience and satisfaction aboard BC Ferries vessels.
What you bring to the role
· Interpersonal skills to engage in conversation with positive enthusiasm to meet project requirements and goals while adapting to changing priorities, is considered essential.
· Exceptional communication skills in English, is required, but proficiency in other languages is considered an asset.
· Familiarity with iPads, cell phones, and navigating websites to explain how to access the survey online will be required to invite people to participate in an engaging survey experience.
Working Conditions
· Safety protocols to ensure the safety of Surveyors must be followed to comply with provincial recommendations, Work safe BC requirements, BC Ferries and Malatest Health & Safety policies.
· Surveyors may stand for long periods of time onboard a moving ferry, during all assigned shifts. Outdoor exposure in all types of weather may occur. Surveyors must come prepared for all weather conditions.
· Traveling to and from the BC Ferries terminals (independently to work) will be required.
· Surveyors are asked to wear basic-colored clothes (Malatest vests and jackets provided) to easily identify Malatest field-work staff for security purposes.
What you get in return
· Rate of Pay: $25.00 per hour. Plus, meal allowance ($19.00 per shift).
· Hours of Work: Scheduled shifts and hours will vary based on project requirements.
· Locations: Victoria Area, Nanaimo Area, Metro Vancouver, Sunshine Coast.
· Surveying Period: Surveying will take place during a ~3-week period in June 2025. An online training session will take place late May or early June.
