Position Summary:

Join TNDC as a Supervisor on a project site in Northern British Columbia, where you’ll lead daily field operations and play a key role in delivering safe, efficient, and high-quality work. Reporting to the General Foreman, you’ll coordinate crews, collaborate with project teams and clients, and drive performance on site.

 

This role is ideal for someone with solid civil earthworks experience, including underground utility installation, who thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Working a rotational schedule with 12-hour days, you’ll be part of a safety-focused team committed to operational excellence and project success.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

·         Implement and maintain a safe workplace program and ensure that safety is the highest priority.

·         Effectively lead teams to achieve departmental goals on a daily, weekly, seasonal, and long-term basis.

·         Coordinate with other Supervisor and Operation Management to ensure department-wide goals and daily operations. Ensure department-wide resources are used efficiently.

·         Train subordinate employees on performance, documentation and activities that affect the achievement of Operations Divisions metrics.

·         Complete team member performance evaluations in accordance with established HR procedures.

·         Ensure all team members are performing daily documentation, and safety checks. Make sure all safety and maintenance issues are reported.

·         Complete and delegate daily work requests and assignments in a safe and timely manner.

·         Daily timesheet approval and cost code submission to Project Controls for subordinate Employees.

·         Instruct, assign, and delegate the team daily.

·         Reporting and documenting all safety violations, incidents, and injuries immediately after occurring.

·         Attend all required meetings (Safety Toolbox, Management, Client, etc.)

·         Provide timely and accurate/factual data related to all metrics.

·         Report and document incidents in a timely manner.

·         Perform other duties as required.

 

Mentorship and Knowledge Sharing

Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to team members, especially local Tahltan workers, by sharing technical skills, safety practices, and industry knowledge in a respectful and culturally aware manner. Uphold Tahltan values and principles by fostering a work environment built on respect, teamwork, and mutual learning. Support the growth of the Tahltan workforce by helping build capacity, promoting safe and effective work practices, and ensuring that knowledge is passed on to strengthen both the team and the broader Tahltan community for the benefit of current and future generation.

 

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • 5+ years of experience in construction, civil, or industrial environments, with supervisory experience preferred
  • Strong civil earthworks experience, including underground utility installation (water, sewer, storm)
  • Proficient in all aspects of civil construction
  • Strong equipment operating experience (Excavator 9–90t, Dozer D6–D10, Grader, Rock Trucks, Skid Steers, Packers)
  • Proven ability to lead crews, subcontractors, and daily site operations
  • Solid understanding of project scheduling, planning, and execution
  • Strong knowledge of safety regulations and commitment to a safety-first culture
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting drawings, specifications, and project documents
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and scheduling tools; experience with systems such as Procore or Primavera P6 is an asset
  • Experience working in remote or camp-based and/or mining environments considered an asset
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract
  • Ability to work long hours (12–13 hour days) on a rotational schedule
  • Relevant certifications such as CSTS, First Aid, and Mine Supervisor Certification required (Shift Boss certification preferred)
  • Team-oriented with the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment

 

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

·         Pass mandatory pre-employment drug and alcohol screening and fitness for work assessment

·         Valid class 5 driver’s license required

·         WHMIS and TDG

·         First Aid Certification
