POSITION SUMMARY


The General Foreman provides overall planning, coordination and leadership to ensure efficient and productive operations across the workforce. This role oversees multiple crews and foremen, supports project execution, and maintains high standards of safety, quality, and performance. Manages foremen and craft workers on site.

Shift rotations are project dependant, with 12 hours workdays. The successful candidate will be a key contributor within a highly progressive safety-focused and motivated team environment.

Responsibilities:


  • Lead and maintain a safe work environment by implementing safety programs, conducting toolbox meetings, approving FLHAs, and ensuring incidents and hazards are reported and addressed promptly.
  • Supervise, coordinate, and schedule multiple crews, including foremen, heavy equipment operators, and labourers, to meet daily, short-term, and long-term operational objectives.
  • Plan and coordinate manpower, equipment, and materials to ensure operational readiness and efficient use of resources.
  • Assign work based on job requirements, site conditions, equipment availability, and worker qualifications.
  • Coordinate daily operations with Operation Management and participate in planning meetings with clients, including short-term look-ahead scheduling.
  • Monitor work progress to ensure compliance with safety standards, project specifications, and quality requirements.
  • Provide leadership through training, coaching, performance evaluations, and ongoing monitoring of worker and operator performance.
  • Ensure completion and accuracy of daily documentation, safety checks, production records, and operational metrics.
  • Support cost and expense control by monitoring productivity and reporting operational performance to the Construction Manager.
  • Demonstrate proper equipment use, ability to assess operator competency, and develop safe work plans as required.
  • Perform inspections and oversee field activities to confirm conformance with project requirements.
  • Perform other duties as required to support safe and effective operations

Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to team members, especially local Tahltan workers, by sharing technical skills, safety practices, and industry knowledge in a respectful and culturally aware manner. Uphold Tahltan values and principles by fostering a work environment built on respect, teamwork, and mutual learning. Support the growth of the Tahltan workforce by helping build capacity, promoting safe and effective work practices, and ensuring that knowledge is passed on to strengthen both the team and the broader Tahltan community for the benefit of current and future generation.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Valid Mine Supervisor Certification in accordance with the Health, Reclamation and Safety Code for Mines in British Columbia.
  • Valid drivers license with current driver’s abstract required.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with attention to detail.
  • Minimum one year of supervisory/leadership experience is required. Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and scheduling software.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Experience working in a remote or camp-based mining setting. 

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT


  • Pass mandatory pre-employment drug and alcohol screening and fitness for work assessment
  • Valid class 5 driver’s license required
  • WHMIS and TDG
  • First Aid Certification
  • Completion of Pre-Start Meeting Training (PSM) (Red Chris Requirement)
  • Completion of Fatality Risk Management (FRM) (Red Chris Requirement)
