CAD Technician
About the Job
The Product Modelling and CAD Designer uses AutoCAD Lite 2023 and SolidWorks 2022. The operator will se a combination of architectural prints and field measurements and sketches to create an elevation drawing to be used in the field for final measuring and review.
The operator will work closely with distributors and customers to design the best system for the end user. The operator will then take approved elevation drawings to create a shop drawing that will be released and used by the plant for fabrication. The operator will also create fabrication details and parts details used in the production process.
Work Hours: 8am to 4:30pm
Work Volume: High-Volume, approximately 20 projects a month in any given stage.
Work Location: CAD technicians will work from the Wilkinson Chutes office.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Complete CAD Design of equipment including proposal, approval, and fabrication drawings using AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
- Collaborate with Manufacturing department to improve product design.
- Generate proposal and approval documentation for client approvals.
- Issue bills of material and spare parts list.
- Prepare "As built" documentation following fabrication and install process.
- Interface with customers, suppliers, and company's own sales representatives on technical aspects.
- Provide technical support to Production and Customer Service Department.
- Provide technical support to Purchasing Department.
- Responsible for technical procurement of new parts based on specifications.
- Perform 3D modeling of products from 2D CADs.
- Produce Production drawings based on information provided from site visits and client reviews.
- Contribute to all aspects of system level design and assist with other general tasks when needed.
- Liaison with Client, Authorities, Contractors.
- Prepare detailed design drawings using AutoCAD and develop computer models of systems on SolidWorks as required.
What You Bring to the Table
- 2+ years practical experience using AutoCAD
- 1+ year practical experience using SolidWorks or other 3D software
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and/or mechanical drawings
- Post Graduate degree/College diploma in mechanical design or equivalent experience
- Knowledge of industrial controls (pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical) is an asset.
Please note that successful candidates will be required to provide a portfolio or samples of drawings for 2D and 3D work.
