Position Overview:

The Preconstruction Manager, under the direction of the Project Development Manager, will coordinate all design and pre-construction services from project inception to construction start required for modular construction projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the construction industry with at least 5 years of relevant industry experience. This role is flexible for the right candidate, with the option between working from the head office in Squamish or being remote, requiring the candidate to work from their home. The Preconstruction Manager will manage the production of technical drawings and plans for each site, bringing together architects, structural and service engineers, to create coordinated designs. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, lead, and schedule pre-construction planning meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensuring drawings and designs are produced on time, to a high quality, and are readily available when required.
  • Overseeing the design process using technical expertise. Manage multiple projects of varying size and complexity at the same time.
  • Lead the process of building permit and development permit submissions. Liaise with governing bodies as required.
  • Work closely with the estimating team in the preparation and issuance of project tender packages; and review of subcontract quotations and provide a bid analysis and recommendations for approval
  • Build strong relationships with clients and ensure that their expectations are met.
  • Maintaining thorough documentation of the design process.
  • Keeping up to date with changing building legislation and codes of practice relating to design
  • Develop, manage, and update project schedules and budgets.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in the modular construction industry and with applicable role experience.
  • Education: Post-secondary education in Construction Management or a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Legal Requirement: Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.

Skills:

  • Advanced knowledge of BC Building Codes and permit submission requirements.
  • Experience managing fiscal performance and developing detailed project plans.
  • Proficient in applicable software (i.e. CADWorks, AutoCAD, etc).
  • Experience in construction estimation and tendering is an asset
  • Strong leadership skills with a focus on team development and mentoring.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational & planning skills.
  • Experience with change management.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast paced environment and manage multiple priorities.

Work Environment:

  • Remote role.
  • Flexible working hours with the expectation of occasional travel to project sites as needed.
