Retail Buyer

THE ROLE

We are currently seeking a Retail Buyer passionate about great local food to join our Procurement team! Previous experience with procurement in a retail operation is required for this position. The Retail Buyer is responsible for supporting the strategic and forward-looking purchasing needs of The Root Cellar to help the business remain competitive. This includes working collaboratively with stakeholders to ensure business growth and success while supporting the overall business goals.

• Business Development: Lead and support expanding revenue streams i.e, wholesale and restaurant sales, pop-ups, and new initiatives.
• New product sourcing: Attend industry trade shows, meets with new and current vendors, and analyzes competitor offerings to expand in-store product selection.
• Advertising Strategy: Support the Procurement Manager with ad program development and maintenance, and support with planning and executing holiday and special event procurement.
• Implement and maintain in-store programs to increase customer loyalty and margin contribution.

WHAT WE BRING TO THE TABLE

• Compensation includes a base salary of $68,000 to $78,000 (based on related experience) plus a performance bonus tied to KPIs.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE

• Previous experience in procurement within a retail operation
• Experience in leading and supporting retail customer programs
• Experience in price and buying negotiation, managing product inventory and driving sales targets
• Excellent communication skills, as well as the ability to think strategically are critical to this position
