Hospitality Worker
Join Beacon Community Services as a compassionate and organized Hospitality Worker supporting our Assisted Living residents at our SHOAL Centre in Sidney.
Our Assisted Living community is dedicated to providing a safe, engaging, and supportive home for seniors. We focus on promoting independence, well-being, and a strong sense of community for all residents. As a Hospitality Worker, you will be the welcoming face of our site and a key part of our residents' daily lives.
Days/Hours of Work: Fridays 11-8 pm, Saturdays 4-8 pm, Sundays 8-8 pm (24.5 hours per week.)
Closing Date: November 28th at Noon.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Assisted Living Manager, the Hospitality Worker joins a caring and dedicated team responsible for creating a welcoming, safe, and vibrant environment. This role is central to our residents' daily experience, providing a warm greeting to families and partners as they enter our site. The Hospitality Worker supports the team with essential duties including light housekeeping, food services, and delivering engaging recreation activities, all while fostering a positive and supportive community for the seniors we serve.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serve as the first point of contact, warmly greeting residents, families, visitors, and business partners.
- Ensure all persons entering the facility understand and follow sign-in/out procedures.
- Promote a safe and healthy environment by performing daily light housekeeping, sanitizing high-touch areas, and managing PPE supplies.
- Observe residents and report any unsafe conditions or noticeable behavioral, physical, or cognitive changes to the Manager.
- Support the culinary team with daily food service and cleanup.
- Deliver and set up one-to-one and group recreational activities in collaboration with the Recreation Coordinator.
- Encourage resident participation by gathering residents for activities and supporting volunteers.
- Provide administrative support, including assisting with phone calls, break coverage, and the visiting process.
- Maintain knowledge of current Provincial Health Orders and all safety/security procedures.
- Promote and maintain positive, compassionate communication with residents, families, and staff.
- Participate in Resident Council Meetings, Dining Room Committee, and staff training.
- Respond to and perform First Aid as required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Completion of Grade 12 or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Standard First Aid and CPR certificate.
- Food Safe Level 1 certificate.
- Previous experience working front-line with seniors and/or a vulnerable population.
- One-to-one support and group facilitation experience.
- Knowledge of issues related to seniors.

- Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Excellent organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to show initiative and sound judgment.
- Skilled in conflict resolution.
- Computer skills, including MS Office applications.
