OVERVIEW

Ridley College is seeking a full-time French Teacher in our Upper School to cover a 1-year LTO for the 2026-2027 school year.

As a French Teacher at Ridley, you will:

create a vibrant classroom where ideas come alive and students feel empowered to take intellectual risks.

design and deliver engaging lessons that challenge and inspire, meeting the diverse needs of learners.

assess and guide growth, providing meaningful feedback that supports academic and personal development.

communicate thoughtfully with advisors and parents through progress reports and ongoing dialogue.

contribute beyond the classroom by coaching a sport, coordinating activities/clubs, leading community service initiatives, and participate as a member of a boarding house duty team.

serve as an advisor to a small group of students, providing ongoing year-round support by facilitating weekly advisory sessions delivering content, foster meaningful connections, guide students through academic and personal challenges, and promote the development of essential life skills in a supportive environment.

collaborate with colleagues, sharing best practices and embracing innovation in teaching and learning.

stay curious, keeping up with developments in literature, pedagogy, and IB curriculum standards.

QUALIFICATIONS 

EDUCATION:

Bachelor of Education degree (Ontario or equivalent) specializing in French

Ontario Teacher qualifications (or equivalent) to teach at the secondary level

Qualified to teach or experience teaching the International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme or Diploma Programme would be an asset

EXPERIENCE & OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum of two (2) years’ full-time teaching, supply or occasional experience teaching Intermediate/Senior French

Athletics coaching at the competitive or recreational level (e.g. rowing, basketball, rugby, hockey or other sport) is an asset

Experience in the creative Arts is an asset

Excellent interpersonal skills, exemplary communication skills, problem-solving, negotiation, and mediation skills

Experience with innovative teaching and learning

Independent/Boarding school experience an asset
