The Aboriginal Coalition to End Homelessness Society (ACEH) is seeking an Assistant House Manager to support operations at SpeqƏȠéutxʷ House. This role works closely with the Senior Manager of Housing to support the Indigenous Street Community and those who have transitioned into culturally supportive housing.
ACEH is an Indigenous-led non-profit organization dedicated to ending Indigenous homelessness through culturally supportive housing and decolonized harm reduction services. Our work is grounded in the voices, experiences, and leadership of the Indigenous Street Family.

Job Details:
Position Type: Full-time, 40 hours per week. On-Call one week per month.
Location: SPAKEN House – 833 Hillside Ave, Victoria, BC
Start Date: Contingent on receiving a Clearance Letter through the Criminal
Record Check Review Program
Compensation and Benefits:
- Annual salary starting at $72,488 ($34.85 per hour), less applicable statutory deductions
- Additional compensation provided for weekday and weekend on-call coverage
- Extended Health Benefits: 100% employer-paid extended health benefits through ACEH’s benefits provider, including medical, dental, vision, and paramedical services.
- Group Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP): Employer-matched contributions of up to 5% of annual earnings.
- Vacation Entitlement: 3 weeks (15 working days) of paid vacation annually, accrued at 6%
- Sick Leave & Wellness:
- 5 paid sick days per calendar year (in accordance with the Employment Standards Act)
- Additional sick leave credits accrued at 1 day per month
- 1 paid Wellness Day per quarter (4 per year)
- 3 unpaid personal days per calendar year
About the Role:
Working closely with the Senior Manager of Housing, the Assistant House Manager plays a key leadership role in supporting daily operations, supervising staff, and ensuring programming aligns with ACEH’s Dual Model of Housing Care.
This position operates within a unionized environment and requires strong leadership, sound judgment, and the ability to balance operational demands with culturally safe, person-centered care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the day-to-day operations of SPAKEN House, ensuring staff are working in alignment with ACEH policies, procedures, and the collective agreement
- Provide direct supervision and leadership to staff, including assigning work, monitoring performance, and addressing operational concerns
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and training of staff in collaboration with Human Resources
- Support performance management processes, including coaching, evaluations, and addressing performance concerns in collaboration with Human Resources.
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation in CAMS, including case notes, incident reports, and wellness plans
- Review and respond to incident reports and ensure appropriate follow-up and escalation
- Support Family Members through advocacy, case coordination, and access to community resources
- Work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners to support wrap-around care
- Support the development and implementation of care plans and wellness goals
- Assist with scheduling, payroll review (Payworks), and operational planning
- Oversee inventory, ordering, and general operational logistics
- Participate in an on-call rotation, providing after-hours leadership support (24/7 for one full week per month).
- Support house safety and security processes, including emergency response and adherence to policies
- Support referrals and intake coordination to ensure Family Members can access and transition into housing and services.
- Facilitate communication between staff, Family Members, and external partners
- Participate in staff meetings and support a positive, accountable team environment
- Perform other related duties as required
Qualifications & Education:
- Minimum 1–2 years of experience in a leadership or supervisory role
- Relevant post-secondary education and/or equivalent experience
- Experience working in non-profit, housing, or social services environments considered an asset
- Experience working with Indigenous communities considered an asset
Required:
- Valid First Aid Certification
- Naloxone Overdose Prevention Training
- Ability to complete a Criminal Record Check for working with vulnerable adults
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle
- Participation in on-call responsibilities
