We are seeking a skilled and dynamic Manufacturing Engineering Manager to join our leadership team. In this role, you will be responsible for leading the design, implementation, and optimization of manufacturing processes to meet productivity and quality goals. The ideal candidate will have a strong engineering background and a passion for continuous improvement in manufacturing. This role reports to the Design Office & Manufacturing Engineering Director.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the industrialization of structural aerospace products to meet strict quality and regulatory requirements for major aviation customers.
- Lead, coach, and support the local engineering team
- Lead the team in defining new production processes that meet cost, quality, and delivery targets, as well as the improvement of current production processes to achieve better productivity and quality.
- Ensure that final products meet strict customer and regulatory requirements.
- Evaluate and plan resources with the Engineering department, to best support projects and continuous improvement efforts. Ensure that department milestones are met while adhering to defined budgets.
- Develop, improve, and promote new machining techniques and strategies, and support the introduction of new equipment.
- Collaborate with other leaders within the organization to share and implement best practices, ensuring operational excellence.
- Represent the company and/or department with the customer, internal contacts, and subcontractors.
- Provide support and technical expertise for the bidding process.
- Provide expert advice for the engineering team.
Qualifications
- Post-Secondary education in Mechanical Engineering, Machining, or a related field; an equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered
- At least 10 years of previous, related experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably with experience in machining high precision components
- At least 3 years of team leadership responsibilities, with a proven ability to lead and motivate a team
- Familiarity with ISO9001, AS9100, and aerospace OEM specifications is considered a strong asset
- Knowledge of industrial development such as milling, drilling, reaming, boring, and honing techniques, 5-Axis CNC machines, cutting tools, and metal machining
- Knowledge base with several materials including aluminum, titanium, and stainless steel
- Excellent knowledge of CATIA V5
- Good working knowledge of Lean, 5S, and Kaizen. Lean or Six Sigma designation considered an asset
- Ability to use MS Office Applications
- Excellent leadership and decision-making skills
- Creative problem-solving skills
- Team player attitude with great communication skills
- Ability to travel occasionally (less than 5%)
