Training & Safety Coordinator (Elie/Brandon)

You'll work closely with leaders across the organization to develop training programs, promote safe work practices, and ensure our teams have the knowledge and resources they need to succeed.
What You'll Do:
Training & Development
- Develop and coordinate onboarding and ongoing training programs for employees across multiple departments.
- Deliver or facilitate training on equipment operation, safety procedures, operational processes, and customer service standards.
- Maintain employee training records, certifications, and competency matrices.
- Coordinate product and technical training with equipment manufacturers and external training providers.
- Identify training needs and recommend development opportunities that support employee growth and operational excellence.
Safety & Compliance
- Support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of AgWest's health and safety programs.
- Conduct regular branch safety inspections and audits, ensuring corrective actions are completed.
- Maintain and update safety policies, procedures, and the company Safety Manual.
- Assist branch leaders and Joint Health & Safety Committees in promoting a positive safety culture.
- Ensure compliance with Manitoba and Saskatchewan occupational health and safety legislation.
Incident Management
- Coordinate workplace incident and near-miss reporting and assist with investigations.
- Prepare reports and analyze trends to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Support return-to-work and modified duties programs when required.
Fleet Safety
- Coordinate fleet safety initiatives, including driver training and vehicle inspection programs.
- Ensure employees operating company vehicles and equipment maintain required certifications.
- Assist with fleet safety audits and promote safe driving practices.
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
- Partner with managers and employees to improve training effectiveness and workplace safety.
- Stay current with industry best practices and legislative changes.
- Support special projects and perform other duties as assigned.
What You Bring:
- 3–5 years of experience in workplace safety, training, operations, or a related role, preferably within the agriculture, construction, or industrial sector.
- Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety or related field (e.g., CRSP, NCSO), a combination of education and relevant experience will also be considered.
- Experience delivering employee training or facilitating group learning sessions.
- Working knowledge of Manitoba and Saskatchewan workplace health and safety legislation.
- Strong communication, coaching, and relationship-building skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience using training or learning management systems is an asset.
- A valid driver's license and willingness to travel between AgWest branches in Manitoba and Saskatchewan.
Working Conditions
- Regular travel to AgWest branches throughout Manitoba and Saskatchewan.
- Combination of office, shop, and field environments with occasional exposure to noise, dust, machinery, and varying weather conditions.
- Occasional lifting of training materials or equipment and standing for extended periods while delivering training.
- Flexibility to work occasional overtime as required to support training initiatives or business needs.
