Maintenance Assistant-Casual

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, The Maintenance Assistant is responsible for assisting with general maintenance duties at AVENS – A Community for Seniors. This is a casual/on-call position to cover for full-time replacement. Duties will include general labour and repairs, painting, general landscaping, equipment checks, and preventative maintenance for our Aven Manor, Aven Cottages, as well as our independent housing.

Education and Experience Requirements

v  Education or training related to maintenance, preference for plumbing, mechanical and electrical

v  Ability to lift up to 50 lbs

v  Ability to work outside for long periods of time, and to work with limited supervision

v  Must be able to obtain, provide and maintain a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check

Pay and Benefits

SALARY: $26.70 per hour

PENSION PLAN: not eligible on a casual position

GROUP BENEFITS: not eligible on a casual position

VACATION: Collective Agreement governs how term vacation leave is allotted and administered

SICK LEAVE: not eligible on a casual position
