Job Title: Manager Counselling and Health Promotion

Status: Temporary, Full-Time 

Hours: 37.5 hours/week
Schedule: Monday, Thursday and Friday (8:30 am-4:30 pm) Tuesday and Wednesday (10 am - 6 pm)

 

Salary: This position starts at $72,000 per year and increases to $103,535 per year over a 10-year period. This salary range incorporates experience, yearly salary increments to reward years of service, and employee growth and development within the organization.

Closing Date:  December 13, 2024

End Date: March 31, 2025, with the possibility of extension pending funding approval.


PURPOSE:
DIVERSEcity Community Resources Society is seeking a Manager, Counselling and Health Promotion, to support our Counselling and Gender Based Violence Services Department. The Counselling and Health Promotion Services manager ensures that programs, services, and practices align with clinical knowledge, best practices, and evidence. With a commitment to the growth and development of the team, the Manager of Counselling and Health Promotion promotes a culture of service focused on culturally agile, client-centered program design, implementation, innovation, and evaluation. This position will supervise clinical staff, build capacity, review and approve cases, train staff and interns, and work collaboratively with colleagues to enhance our services per the organization’s values and vision.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supports the design, management, and implementation of multi-disciplinary systems of care, supervising and supporting clinical and case management staff providing individual and group counselling services;
In collaboration with the management team, supports the recruitment, orientation, and supervision of staff;
Ensures that individual treatment plans are designed, implemented and evaluated continuously and that case plans and client files are kept up to date;
Supports the intake of screening processes and assigns clients to the counselling team;
Oversee intern student program, including processing of applications and providing supervision to student intern counsellors;  
Provides direct supervision to clinical counsellors;
Responsible for the development, adoption, and commitment to clinical best practices; 
Provides case consultation for developing, implementing, coordinating, and evaluating plans and programs designed to ensure that clients’ needs are met;
Ensures that accurate program and client records are maintained and that confidentiality is prioritized. Conducts regular file reviews and implements file management processes to ensure all pertinent documentation is complete. Ensures adherence to agency, ethical, funding, and legal requirements;
Identifies staff training needs and organizes/participates in offering in-service training and participates in annual training schedule;
Assesses the effectiveness of programs and implements changes in consultation with the management team;
Works collaboratively with the management team to ensure ongoing quality of service delivery; identifies gaps in service and recommends strategies to respond to client needs;
Participates in the preparation of funding applications and proposals as required; 
Works collaboratively with the management team in the preparation of statistical and narrative reports as required by the agency and funders;
Represents the agency at community functions, meetings or task groups as needed and provide presentations when required.


QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology or related field with a focus on work with children, youth, and families and/or addictions;
Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) designation from the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors OR a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) through CCPA Considered an Asset;
Proven recent program development experience, with knowledge of federal-provincial contract management;
3 years’ experience working in a community-based non-profit society or related experience;
2-years’ experience working with mental health, substance use, violence prevention, or related programs/services; 
1 year experience providing clinical supervision to staff, preferably within a unionized setting;
Strong English language skills, including written, oral and presentation skills. 
Strong organizational and time management skills;
Strong computer literacy skills, in particular, MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint);
Knowledge and experience working alongside immigrant, refugee, ethno-cultural, and racialized communities; 
Experience and knowledge of evaluation, outcomes measurement and research methodologies.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and timelines in a fast-paced environment;
Excellent problem-solving ability, discretion and judgement;
Able to work independently and collegially in a team environment;
Innovative, flexible, and able to manage change and uncertainty;
Valid BC Driver’s License and access to a personal vehicle;
Willing to work some evenings and weekends, as needed.

Preference will be given to candidates who also possess:
Knowledge of IRER communities and Settlement issues;
Familiarity with MCFD reporting guidelines and protection concerns;
Previous program management experience, including program outcome evaluation, budgeting, report writing and program planning, funding and proposal/grant writing;
Supervision experience in a unionized environment;
Verbal fluency in a second language is an asset; Arabic, Mandarin or Punjabi preferred;
Knowledge of Surrey, North Delta, White Rock, and/or Langley communities
A criminal record check is a requirement for employment.
