Job Summary
Our Surrey Post Collection Plant plays a vital role in managing large volumes of materials and promoting recycling and sustainability in the region. We are currently looking to hire a Heavy-Duty Equipment Mechanic / Earth Moving Equipment Mechanic for our Surrey Post Collection Plant. This position reports to the Maintenance Manager and is responsible for safely and efficiently diagnosing and repairing facility equipment.
Position Description
- Diagnose and complete all repairs safely and in accordance with company policies and manufacturer specifications.
- Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic and electrical systems.
- Test repaired equipment to ensure proper performance.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and work orders.
- Communicate regularly with managers about repair status and any concerns.
- Work collaboratively with the maintenance team to meet daily operational needs.
- Mentor and guide junior maintenance staff as required.
- Recommend improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Skills & Qualifications
- Red Seal Certification as a Heavy-Duty Equipment Mechanic is required.
- Valid driver’s license is required.
- Experience in the waste management or a similar heavy industrial environment is an asset.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with hydraulic and electrical systems.
- Basic computer skills; experience with online preventative maintenance programs is an asset.
- Physically able to stand, lift up to 40 lbs, bend, twist, and carry tools and parts for extended periods.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
