Are you a student actively enrolled in a Funeral Director program looking for:

🌲We offer 75 hours bi-weekly on a set schedule Tuesday to Saturday, working primarily at one designated chapel. Core hours are 9:00 am – 5:00 pm, but flexibility in location and hours will be required.

Your Role as a Chapel Assistant

This is a key role in the successful execution of providing 5-Star Customer Service to families through:

🌲Setting up the chapel or church for the funeral service, as well as items that are particular to the service such as flowers, photo displays, memorabilia, or culturally specific items

🌲Welcoming families to the chapel for funeral or visitation services, receptions, or meetings with arrangers

🌲Handing out funeral service folders and providing seating guidance (ushering)

🌲Assisting with the details of identifications, confirming handling of personal effects, as well as any other requests from families

🌲Urn releases 

🌲Assisting the Administration team as needed

🌲Working comfortably around, and occasionally coming in contact with, decedents

🌲Traveling across Calgary to work at various McInnis & Holloway locations

🌲Working a set schedule that includes weekends and some holidays

What You Bring

🌲Actively enrolled in the Funeral Director program through Mount Royal University or the Canadian College of Funeral Services is preferred

🌲Professional, helpful, and caring demeanor

🌲Able to lift and carry up to 50 kg and move a casket

🌲Excellent oral communication skills (a second language is considered an asset)

🌲5-Star customer service mindset

🌲Empathy, compassion, and patience

🌲Sensitivity to cultural practices

🌲A clear background check (Security Clearance)

🌲Availability to work all shifts as scheduled, including weekends and holidays, with the ability to work past scheduled hours as required to meet the needs of the families we serve
