From our facility in Delta, B.C., we manufacture high-precision gears and machined components for demanding industries including mining, marine, power generation, oil and gas, and cement.

We are looking for a reliable and motivated General Shop Labourer who takes pride in working safely, staying productive, and helping the team succeed.

This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a precision manufacturing environment. For someone who demonstrates initiative, reliability, and a willingness to learn, the role offers the potential to develop into a Shipper/Receiver position and pursue other opportunities within Ideal Gear and Boundary Group.

Build practical skills, support world-class craftsmanship, and create a path to your next opportunity.

The Opportunity

As a General Shop Labourer, you will help keep our people, materials, and work moving safely and efficiently.

Your responsibilities will range from maintaining clean and organized work areas to moving materials, supporting machinists, unloading trucks, and performing basic finishing work on manufactured parts. You will work alongside experienced tradespeople and manufacturing professionals while learning how a high-precision machine shop operates.

The right person does not wait to be reminded that something needs attention. You notice what needs to be done, ask questions when you are unsure, and follow through on your responsibilities.

What You’ll Do

  • Keep shop, machining, storage, and common work areas clean, safe, and organized.
  • Identify and address housekeeping needs that could affect safety or production.
  • Load and unload trucks safely using a forklift or other appropriate equipment.
  • Empty chip bins and maintain cleanliness around machining areas.
  • Move, organize, and stage materials and inventory for machinists and production teams.
  • Use pallet jacks and other material-handling equipment to move pallets and materials throughout the shop.
  • Deburr sharp edges and perform basic finishing work on manufactured parts according to instructions and quality expectations.
  • Assist with lifting and moving materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Use overhead cranes to lift and move heavy materials when trained and authorized.
  • Handle materials carefully to prevent damage and maintain proper identification.
  • Respond to changing shop priorities and support team members when additional help is needed.
  • Follow all safety procedures, equipment requirements, and supervisor instructions.
  • Perform other shop and material-handling duties that contribute to safe, efficient production.

What You Bring

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • A strong work ethic and a reputation for being dependable.
  • A safety-first mindset and willingness to follow established procedures.
  • The physical ability to perform active work, including regularly standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Strong attention to detail and respect for quality.
  • The ability to stay organized and complete assigned work without constant supervision.
  • Clear communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented attitude.
  • A willingness to learn new tasks, accept feedback, and take on greater responsibility.

Previous experience in manufacturing, warehousing, shipping and receiving, construction, trades, or another hands-on environment is helpful but not required.

A valid forklift certificate and experience operating forklifts, pallet jacks, or overhead cranes are considered assets. Training may be provided based on operational requirements.

Most importantly, you bring the right attitude. You show up ready to work, take care of the workplace and equipment around you, and understand that even basic tasks matter when the team is producing precision work.

What You Can Expect

  • Hands-on experience in an established precision manufacturing operation.
  • The opportunity to learn from experienced machinists, tradespeople, and operations professionals.
  • A clear opportunity to demonstrate your capabilities and take on greater responsibility.
  • Potential advancement into a Shipper/Receiver position.
  • Career growth opportunities across Ideal Gear and other Boundary Group companies.
  • A workplace that values safety, reliability, teamwork, and pride in workmanship.
