Bus Driver

Days/Hours of Work: Monday to Friday 2 pm to 4 pm

POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting to the SESISEJ Childcare Manager, the Bus Driver transports children from the school to the SESISEJ after-school care program. They conduct the pre-and post-trip inspections and ensure the safety of and timely arrival of children. An unrestricted Class 4 driver’s license is required to operate the bus.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Safely pick up children from designated schools and transport them to the SESISEJ After School Care Program
- Ensure the safety of all passengers during transportation by adhering to traffic laws and school bus regulations
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure the vehicle is in safe working condition
- Maintain cleanliness of the vehicle
- Report any mechanical issues, accidents, or traffic violations to the supervisor
- Communicate effectively with the after-school care staff regarding any schedule changes or concerns
- Foster a safe and welcoming environment for the children during transportation
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Valid unrestricted Class 4 driver’s license.
- Clean driving abstract
- Previous experience in bus driving or transporting children is an asset.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to follow routes and schedules efficiently.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with a friendly and patient demeanor.
- Ability to handle emergencies calmly and professionally.
