PRIMARY PURPOSE:

The Social Media Coordinator plays a key role in supporting the growth and day-to-day management of a social media marketing agency’s digital presence. This role focuses on content creation, content repurposing, scheduling, and social media coordination to help expand brand visibility and audience engagement across multiple platforms.

The Social Media Coordinator will assist in transforming podcasts, videos, written content, and existing brand materials into engaging social media posts, graphics, captions, and other digital assets. The main objective of this role is to support consistent, high-quality content production and maintain an active and engaging online presence.

While the primary focus is social media support, this role may also provide occasional marketing and content support for projects.

WAGE: $18 per hour

HOURS OF WORK: 35 Hours

PERIOD OF EMPLOYMENT: May 11th – August 28th, 2026

LOCATION: In Person, Downtown Niagara Falls

NOTE: This role is part of a secondment arrangement. The successful candidate will be employed by Civiconnect, but their day-to-day responsibilities will be carried out with a partner organization under their operational supervision.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create and repurpose content for social media platforms based on existing podcasts, videos, written content, and brand materials.

  • Write engaging captions, edit copy, and ensure all content aligns with brand voice and messaging.

  • Assist with scheduling and organizing social media posts across multiple platforms.

  • Research trends, hashtags, and social media best practices to help optimize content performance.

  • Support the creation of digital assets including graphics, short-form video clips, and visual content.

  • Monitor and assist with community engagement, including responding to comments and messages where appropriate.

  • Collaborate with team members to maintain consistent content calendars and posting schedules.

  • Organize and manage digital content assets to ensure efficient workflows.

  • Assist with light marketing or administrative tasks as needed.

  • Provide occasional marketing and content support for shared projects within the organization.

  • Take direction from the Project Manager to ensure work is completed on time and meets quality standards.

  • Stay informed on emerging social media tools, trends, and content strategies.

  • Complete self-directed online courses.

  • Participate in soft skills workshops.

  • Other duties as required.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Mandatory attendance is required for soft skills workshops.


PROGRAMS / SOFTWARE USED:

Google Workspace, Asana, Discord, Canva, AI tools, social media platforms, and website platforms such as WordPress, Wix, or Squarespace.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

  • Willingness to learn.

  • Must respect the learning environment.

  • Strong writing and editing skills.

  • Creative mindset with an eye for engaging digital content.

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Comfortable learning new digital tools and platforms.


The YSS is an integrated learning environment, and no prior experience is 
required; however, knowledge of the following is beneficial:

  • Familiarity with social media platforms and content scheduling tools.

  • Basic graphic design and/or content creation skills.

  • Understanding social media trends and digital content strategies.

LIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: 

Civiconnect receives government funding based on certain eligibility requirements. Please only apply if you meet the following criteria:

  • Must be between 18-29 years of age

  • Must be enrolled in part-time or full-time studies at a Canadian post-secondary institution with a co-op or internship

  • Must be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident

  • Must be able to work full-time, in person, for a duration of 16 weeks.

You will need to provide certain administrative documents if offered employment including:

  • Proof of ID (copy of Birth Certificate, Passport, Permanent Resident card)

  • Proof of Enrolment letter from Registrar office

  • TD1 & TD1ON completed

  • Direct deposit slip from a financial institution
