Machine Operator - Day Shift - Forma Steel

Forma Steel manufactures steel roofing, siding, trim, and custom panels in a variety of gauges, colors, and finishes for every structure you can imagine. We manufacture our product in Fort Macleod, Alberta, approximately 25 minutes West of Lethbridge, in an enclosed plant that is open all year. We are currently looking to hire the following position in our Forma Steel facility.

 Role: Machine Operator

Job Type: Full-time Permanent

Work Schedule: Monday to Thursday

Shift: Day Shift

The machine operator contributes to Forma Steel production manufacturing team by aiding in steel production according to Standard Work Operating Procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate various steel manufacturing equipment such as roll former, shear, brake, and slitter.
• Perform start up, cleaning, and shut down procedures on production equipment.
• Complete required checks on equipment/product and document.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area and assist other personnel as needed to maintain the same conditions throughout the shop floor.
• Use all equipment and operate machinery in a safe and careful manner.
• Perform other production manufacturing tasks as required.

Key Requirements:

• At least 6 months to 1 year of related experience.
• Strong communication skills & work ethic.
• Ability to read, speak, and write English.
• Demonstrated safety mindset.
• Ability to contribute to a team environment.
• Previous manufacturing experience is an asset.
• Able to wear all required PPE (Steel toed boots, safety glasses, ear plugs, hi-vis vest, etc.).
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the role such as standing/walking for long periods of time, lifting, pushing, and pulling 50-75 lbs. repeatedly and gross motor & repetitive hand grip use.

 Please note: You must have CSA approved work boots, as they are REQUIRED when on the manufacturing floor.
