RESPONSIBILITIES

YWCA Hamilton is looking for a contractor to deliver yoga classes 0-14 hours per week. The Yoga Instructor delivers high quality Yoga programs that reflect the needs of the YWCA Hamilton members, participants and community, in keeping with the YWCA mission, vision and values while adhering to the YWCA policies and procedures and quality standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

·        Leads a variety of Yoga & Chair Yoga classes with a focus on the 55+yrs clients;

·        Designs and delivers specialized classes for members;

·        Ensures all members/clients are treated in a friendly and professional manner;

·        Maintains accurate records, statistics and produces reports upon request;

·        Maintains appropriate record-keeping in accordance with YWCA Hamilton’s policies and procedures, and confidentiality/privacy policies;

·        Identifies and evaluates risks associated with members/clients and takes appropriate action to control the risks;

·        Works safely, reports all workplace hazards and follows all YWCA Hamilton Health and Safety policies and procedures,

·        Familiar with, and adheres to the Occupational Health & Safety Act, (OHSA) Workplace Safety Insurance Board Act (WSIB), Human Rights and Employment Standards Act (ESA);

·        Ensures compliance with YWCA Hamilton policies and procedures;

·        Nurtures and forms meaningful internal and external working relationships and partnerships;

·        Understands emerging trends, leading practices, industry professional standards;

·        Supports YWCA Hamilton mission, vision and values;

·       Perform other duties as required.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

·        High school diploma;

·        Minimum of 1-3 years’ experience as a Specialized Yoga Instructor with ability to teach a variety of yoga classes focusing on a 55+years community;

·        Must have Ontario Fitness Council (OFC) Group Fitness Leadership, SFIT Certification or equivalent or willing to achieve;

·        Group Fitness Certification (e.g. Zumba Gold, Aerobics, Heartbeat, Bones, Aqua Fitness, Strength Training, Interval) considered an asset;

·        Must have current Emergency First Aid and CPR certificate or willingness to obtain at own cost;

·        Must be able to lead and work from a feminist, anti-racist / anti-oppressive perspective for operations and strategic planning;

·        Excellent written and verbal communication skills;

·        Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and also work effectively in a team;

·       Bilingual English/French or other languages an asset.
