Soonats’ooneh Health Centre is a vibrant urban Indigenous Integrated Health Team Centre and educational facility situated on Lheidli T'enneh territory in Prince George, BC. The Clinic’s inter-disciplinary team provides trauma-informed and culturally safe, medical and psychosocial services to some of the most vulnerable members of our community.

The Registered Social Worker will join our interdisciplinary team in providing holistic and culturally safe, medical and psychosocial services to some of the most vulnerable people in our community. The ideal candidate will share our commitment to Indigenous worldviews and will work closely with individuals and families within our community to provide culturally relevant social services and support. In this role, you will provide comprehensive assessment, care planning and treatment coordination for designated clients and their families. As the Social Worker you will be responsible for providing and developing social work services to maintain or improve the health and social well-being and functioning of the identified population.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ability to take initiative and provide expertise/leadership from a psychosocial perspective on an interdisciplinary health care team.
  • Solid skills in the areas of assessment, case and crisis management, systemic and individual advocacy, and referral.
  • Ability to collaborate with other health and social service agencies to achieve the best health outcomes for the patients served by CINHS.
  • Thorough understanding of harm reduction and the role it plays in disease prevention
  • Understanding of the historical and current day issues faced by Indigenous people in our society

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Social Work degree from an accredited institution
  • At least three years’ experience in a community setting and/or working with vulnerable people
  • Registration with Professional Designate (BC College of Social Workers (BCCSW), BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BACC) or Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA) is a requirement for this position.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care and cultural safety principles
  • Excellent communication and active listening skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
  • Must possess a valid BC Driver’s License and access to a vehicle

Job Type: Casual

Pay Range: $30-42/hr
