Foreman - Mulchers
ROLE

The Mulcher Foreman is responsible for the safe,
efficient, and productive supervision of heavy industrial vegetation management
and mulching operations. This role oversees field crews, equipment utilization,
worksite safety, production targets, environmental compliance, and client
relations while ensuring all operations are completed in accordance with
company standards, project specifications, and applicable regulations. This temporary role is expected to be for 3 to 4 months duration and is located in Pelican Narrows and Sandy Bay SK.
The Mulcher Foreman provides day-to-day leadership to
operators and ground personnel while maintaining a strong focus on operational
excellence, hazard management, crew development, and continuous improvement.
The position reports to the Operations Manager / General Manager and supervises
Mulcher Operators, Labourers / Ground Personnel, and assigned subcontractors.
KEY
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Operational
Leadership
·
Supervise
and coordinate daily mulching and vegetation management activities.
·
Lead field
crews in right-of-way clearing, forestry mulching, brushing, reclamation, and
site preparation operations.
·
Ensure
projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and within scope.
·
Monitor
production targets and implement corrective actions when required.
·
Conduct
daily tailgate meetings, hazard assessments, and worksite inspections.
·
Coordinate
equipment movement, fueling, maintenance scheduling, and site logistics.
·
Maintain
accurate daily reports, production records, timesheets, and safety
documentation.
Safety
& Compliance
·
Promote
and enforce a strong safety culture throughout all operations.
·
Ensure
compliance with company policies, OH&S regulations, client requirements,
and environmental standards.
·
Identify,
assess, and mitigate operational hazards.
·
Participate
in incident investigations and implement corrective actions.
·
Verify all
crew members maintain required certifications, orientations, and competencies.
·
Ensure
proper use and maintenance of PPE and safety equipment.
Crew
Supervision & Development
·
Provide
leadership, mentorship, and performance management for operators and labour
personnel.
·
Assign
work responsibilities and monitor crew productivity.
·
Conduct
field training and competency evaluations.
·
Support
employee development through coaching and ongoing communication.
·
Assist
with hiring recommendations and onboarding of new employees.
Equipment
& Maintenance Oversight
·
Oversee
the operation of mulchers, excavators, dozers, skid steers, and support
equipment.
·
Monitor
equipment condition and coordinate preventative maintenance and repairs.
·
Ensure
pre-operational inspections are completed and documented.
·
Minimize
equipment downtime through proactive planning and communication.
Client
& Stakeholder Relations
·
Maintain
professional communication with clients, landowners, inspectors,
subcontractors, and project stakeholders.
·
Represent
the company in a professional and respectful manner at all times.
·
Provide
project updates and address operational concerns in a timely manner.
·
Support
successful project execution through effective coordination with management and
stakeholders.
QUALIFICATIONS:
As the Mulcher Foreman you will bring:
·
Minimum 3–5 years of experience
in vegetation management, forestry mulching, land clearing, or heavy equipment
operations.
·
Previous supervisory or foreman
experience preferred.
·
Strong understanding of heavy
industrial worksite safety requirements.
·
Experience operating and
supervising mulching equipment in remote or challenging terrain.
·
Ability to interpret project
scopes, maps, and worksite plans.
·
Strong leadership,
communication, and organizational skills.
·
Mechanical aptitude and
understanding of equipment maintenance practices.
·
Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
required; Class 1 or 3 considered an asset.
·
Ability to work extended shifts
and travel to remote project locations.
·
Ability to work outdoors in
various weather conditions.
·
Proficiency in basic computer
applications (e.g., MS Office).
