Accent Inns Inc., the hotel chain with a rubber duck in every room, is searching for a Senior Accountant to join our flock of totally unique and fun- loving individuals at our Head Office (aka Rebel Base) in Victoria BC.
Here you will be second in command for Financial Statement analysis and preparation. This role reports to the Controller and is a key player in the Finance Department. The Senior Accountant will supervise and monitor the progression of tasks, ensuring key deadlines are met.

What the Role is Quacked Up to Be
• Utilize accounting software for full cycle accounting and month-end close
• Prepare and review complex journal entries
• Perform and/or review balance sheet reconciliations to ensure accuracy and resolve any discrepancies, with a focus on prepaid expenses and utility accruals
• Prepare monthly cash flow projections and understand differences compared to actual
• Monitor and report on bank account balances, including processing transfer of funds between bank accounts
• Be a key member of the finance team working on month-end duties that could include:
corporate tax filings (GST, PST, MRDT etc.), including internal review for compliance with legislation
accounting for corporate Visa transactions and Long-term Debt transactions
restaurant operation analysis, including Inventory COGS entries
• Complete Statistic Canada Quarterly results survey
• Review weekly payroll preview reports and understand/monitor efficiency ratios
• Assist with year-end audit by preparing and reviewing support documentation (lead sheets)
• Ad hoc financial reporting and analysis
• General financial accounting duties
What You Bring
• You have a degree (major or minor in accounting)
• Five to Seven + years progressive experience in an accounting role
• Experience reviewing journal entries, bank reconciliations, financial statements and preparing variance analysis
• Preference will be given to Chartered Professional Accountants, but it is not a requirement
• Most importantly, a can-do flexible attitude and a fun- loving team player
Nice to Have
• Experience with Sage Intacct (accounting software system)
• Experience in Hospitality and/or Food & Beverage service industry
• Variance analysis (comparing actual results to budget and forecast)
• Experience processing payroll, including Certified Payroll Manager (CPM) Certification Program, or working towards certification
• Prepare, interpret, and present on key payroll reporting metrics
