Fitness and Training Coordinator

Role: Fitness & Training Coordinator
As Fitness & Training Coordinator, you will participate in re-imagining, overseeing and evolving the functions of the Fitness Centre team and bring Vivo experiences to life. You will assist with providing leadership and mentorship to the team and support critical planning, organization and administration functions to ensure the department is operating in an efficient and professional manner. You will participate in developing and creating public spaces and member spaces that connect and engage with our customers, community and employees in ways that are impactful in driving and advancing our cause. You will engage with passion, provide mentorship and be accountable to the team to help deliver strong results and impact, proving a safe and customer centric experience for our customers and employees.
Reports to: Fitness & Training Manager
Responsibilities: Fitness & Training Coordinator
• Build strong relationships and co-create with our adult and teen audience to gather, document and share quarterly insights about what’s happening in the Fitness Centre and what our customer’s value.
• Assist in seeking out and exploring trends and practices new ways of experience. Delivery, equipment lifecycles and maintenance, etc. and recommend solutions.
• Assist the Fitness & Training Manager with developing and testing with customers the next evolution of the Fitness offerings.
• Support the use of new technology within the Fitness Centre and Boutique Studios for Spin, Bootcamp-based classes, including use of heart rate monitors and electronic challenges as well as the technology for personal training clients.
• Assist with the day-to-day Fitness Centre operations by maintaining health and safety standards, first aid incidents, equipment inventory and ordering.
• Assist the Fitness & Training Manager with planning, developing and evaluation of Fitness Centre processes, procedures and operations.
• Perform and lead all preventative maintenance on fitness equipment (tools provided). Including, inspect parts for wear, lubricate rods, remove and clean chains, belts & electronic boards.
• Perform minor repairs as per maintenance request forms. Such as, replace shrouds, replace cables, etc.
• Recommend necessary replacement items to maintain service, ensure safety or improve efficiency. This includes, but is not limited to, equipment esthetics and parts.
• Work with the Fitness & Training Manager to order parts and equipment from the most appropriate and cost-effective sources available.
• Call/liaise with contractors to repair equipment in need of major repair.
• Oversee the cleanliness, safety, and maintenance of all the areas of the group fitness facilities, including being aware of any fitness classes taking place during your shift and making sure the space is ready for our members and the instructors.
• Participate in the assessment, revisions, and revamping of operational policies, procedures and training manuals to ensure they are aligned and support business and team practices.
• Role model the spotting of customers using fitness equipment, to ensure the proper techniques are being used for the customer’s safety and for Vivo.
• Take the lead on responding to customer inquiries to resolution.
• Participate in the preparation and delivery of appropriate presentations on products and services to members.
• Lead and manage first aid incidences in the Fitness Centre.
• Assist the Fitness & Training Manager with recruitment, mentoring, developing performance, targets, and the day-to-day performance management of the Fitness Consultant and Personal training teams utilizing Human Resources best practices to ensure a high-performing team.
• Assist in regular scheduling and payroll.
• Participate in championing Vivo at special events i.e. everybody plays, open house, community events, etc.
• Perform other various duties and administrative tasks as they arise in assisting the Fitness and Training Manager.
• Meet with or organize meetings with the Personal Trainers for clients and members interested in personal training.
• Promptly complete administrative tasks related to tracking client sessions, collecting payments, and inputting time in payroll.
• Work with the fitness team, collect facility usage stats, program stats, and identify trends within these areas to confirm operational needs with the Manager.
• Manage and report to the Manager any problems, concerns or emergencies that arise.
• Exercise safety awareness and practices including administering First Aid and/or CPR as required.
• Assist the Manager with the evaluation of the program by providing feedback and recommendations for improvement in processes for training.
• Liaise with other trainers to gain insight into providing the best programs for clients.
• Actively gain your own clientele and sell your services effectively.
• Attend In-services and meetings with supervisors or clients as requested.
Qualifications:
• Post-Secondary Diploma and/or University Degree in healthy living, experience and place making, kinesiology, social innovation and business etc.
• Personal Training Diploma, Canfitpro PTS or AFLCA PT.
• 3+ years’ experience in the fitness field.
• Minimum 3 years of leadership and supervisory experience.
• Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C/AED certifications.
• Experience in Avocado or similar types of registration POS systems is an asset.
• Police Information Clearance within the past 3 years for current staff and 2 months for new staff.
• Additional certifications and evidence of continuing education are an asset (for example):
o CSEP – Certified Personal Trainer or CSEP – Certified Exercise Physiologist
o Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS)
• NCCP Olympic Weightlifting, Kettlebell, TRX, Injury Rehabilitation
• Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C/AED certifications.
• Ability and willingness to work Weekends, early mornings, midday and evenings
