Kitchen Assistant
Under the direction of the Executive Chef and Sous Chefs, the Kitchen Assistant is responsible for cleaning duties, dish washing and some food production for Longshot’s and Chips Café kitchen as well as back of the house areas including buffets and catered events, as required. This role is responsible to maintain the highest professional food quality and sanitation standards. This is a hands-on position in every aspect: line, prep, cleaning, etc. This positions participates in training and developing new skills as required. This is a part time role required to work evenings and weekends.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Produces highest standards of quality and cleanliness
- Understands the procedures involved in cleaning and sanitizing dishes and equipment
- Maintains high levels of customer service by helping co-workers where needed
- Effectively communicates with front of house staff members to ensure smooth operations
- Helps with the completing of daily prep lists and cleaning lists
- Ensures products are properly stored, dated, labeled and rotated to minimize waste
- Organizes fridges and shelves
- Maintains stock of take out supplies and assists in bringing food prep from one kitchen to another
- Cuts and portions food on prep list
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
- Understands and demonstrates knowledge of hygiene, safety, sanitation and food handling procedures
- Ability to multi task in a fast pace environment
- Ability to work in a timely, efficient and punctual manner
- Maintains a clean and organized working environment
- Ability to seek additional duties during slower parts of the day
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

- Valid food safe certification is ideal
- At least 19+ years of age ad legally eligible to work in Canada
- Completion of Serving It Right certification
- GPEB registration approval
- Completion of all BCLC certifications necessary for the position
