Position Summary:
Reporting to the Program Supervisor, the Early Learning Teacher Sub plays a pivotal role in implementing ABC's mission and vision by leading the planning and implementation of early learning/head start programming using the Flight, SCERTs and Safe Management pedagogical frameworks. You will work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and administrators to create a nurturing and stimulating learning environment that meets the unique needs of each child.
Key Aspects of the Role:
• Curriculum Development and Implementation by preparing daily, weekly, monthly, and annual program plans referencing the AB Education Kindergarten Statements and the seven domains of early childhood development while incorporating ideology of Flight, SCERTs, and Safe Management Framework
• Assessment and Progress Monitoring through observations and documentation of student skills and abilities, supporting the assessment of progress towards positive outcomes
• Individualized Instruction by monitoring and tracking goal development, updating progress with input from interdisciplinary team as applicable, ensuring continuous support for children's resilience and growth
• Classroom Management by creating a classroom profile based on enrollment in consultation with the program supervisor, ensuring diversity and equitable access to opportunities for all children, while considering staff strengths and skills
• Professional Collaboration through working with classroom and interdisciplinary team members as well as families/caregivers to develop and implement consistent goals in areas of communication, social/emotional/behavioural development, fostering resilience in children and promoting a collaborative approach to supporting their superpowers
• Health and Safety by adhering to health and safety guidelines, protocols, procedures, and codes of conduct established by ABC Head Start Society and relevant regulatory authorities to ensure the safety and well-being of children and staff
• Parent and Family Engagement by collaborating with parents and caregivers to support children’s learning and development
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in education with specialization in Early Childhood Education or related field.
- Alberta Education Teaching Certificate (valid and in good standing).
- Prior experience working with children who have complex needs, including behavioural challenges, developmental delays, or disabilities.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with Speech-Language Pathologist and Behaviour Consultant to implement recommend strategies and interventions.
- Knowledge of Alberta’s Early Learning and Childcare Framework, curriculum standards, and assessment practices is an asset.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to adapt instruction to meet the individual needs of diverse learners.
- Commitment to promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion in education.

Other Information:
• As the workload and operational requirements shift, it may be required that you change locations, dates, and/or hours of work.
• A security clearance with vulnerable sector completed is required for all newly hired employees.
• Child intervention check is required for all newly hired employees.
• Standard first aid certification required within 30 days of employment.
• Safe Management training through the employer will be required within one year of employment.
• Availability to work Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00am and 5:00pm.
