POSITION DESCRIPTION

Your position is responsible for providing professional and dependable service and to develop our team’s capability to deliver JEC’s key objectives to all our customers and suppliers. You will have a complete understanding of all customer/supplier requirements.

Your understanding of JEC’s Business Management System Manual, the associated BMS policies, processes, and their interaction is imperative.  A commitment to JEC’s philosophy of Safety, Morale, Quality, Cost, Delivery & Environment is a requirement.

This role will be measured against specific targets as noted in the departmental business plan.

SUMMARY

Weld Technical Team Leaders are responsible for setting up equipment, installing and repairing machinery, training new Weld Technical Associates, and maintaining all production equipment and facility systems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Work with Technical Associates and ensure all PM's are done and closed by scheduled date

Work with the Technical Coordinator to ensure PMs are completed and covered in the event there are gaps in staffing

Completion of assigned DM activity that may include modifying processes, custom fabrications, testing and evaluating current and new processes for improvements, PLC programming, Robot programming, HMI programming, and root cause analyzes of downtime issues

Review all DM’s for Weld Technical Associates on shift making sure all milestones are met and task is on schedule

Training of all new hire Weld Technical Associates on departmental workings which includes but is not limited to documentation, PM/DM system, machine process, PLC programming, Robot programming, HMI programming, basic trouble shooting, weld process, and shift schedule

Tip validation for all weld tips plant wide - every shift

Support completion of New Model Validation Sheets for all new line installations plant wide to ensure that all JEC standards are being met

Complete communication documentation as well as updating any documentation that need to be change due to an improvement in process. This includes CAD drawings, line layouts, and SOP’s

Provide training for Production Team Leaders on any improvements that are made to the process so that they can train Production Associates on all changes

Interprets company policies to associates and enforces safety regulations

LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly oversees associates in the Weld Technical Department. Carries out leadership responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training associates; assigning, and directing work; and resolving problems.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Post-secondary education in Engineering or Engineering Technology desired as well as two or more years of experience in PLC programming, instrumentation and controls is required or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the associate group.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

While performing the duties of this job, the associate is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

COMPUTER SKILLS

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Manufacturing software; Project Management software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
