THE OPPORTUNITY
We are seeking a proactive and technically skilled Assistant Infrastructure Manager to support the planning, maintenance, and development of our marine shore-based infrastructure. Reporting to the Infrastructure Manager, this role is vital in ensuring our terminals and berths are maintained to the highest standards and that maintenance procedures are effectively captured, standardized, and implemented across all facilities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with planning, development, and implementation of infrastructure projects, budgets, and maintenance programs.
  • Provide technical guidance to terminal management and maintenance staff on daily and non-routine maintenance activities.
  • Support project management of third-party contractors, including tender development, progress validation, and quality assurance.
  • Collaborate with senior management, Transport Canada, PSPC, and consultants on project planning and execution.
  • Assist in developing and managing project budgets and standardizing maintenance practices across terminals.
  • Capture maintenance activities and inventory in the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) and support staff training on the platform.
  • Promote and uphold safety, environmental, and regulatory compliance standards.
  • Provide technical assistance and troubleshooting for terminal infrastructure and equipment as needed.

WHAT YOU BRING:

  • Engineering degree or technical diploma/certification in Mechanical, Civil, or Industrial Control Technology—or extensive equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience with hydraulic systems, industrial controls, and instrumentation systems.
  • Background in marine terminal management and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of marine terminal infrastructure, relevant safety and environmental regulations.
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and travel throughout the Maritimes.
  • Valid driver’s license required.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Primarily day-work schedule (Mon–Fri), working flexible hours, including occasional evenings, weekends, and overnight travel. In addition to office-based work in Saint John, NB, this role will require frequent visits to vessels, terminals, and other company locations, primarily located in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Prince Edward Island, and will require considerable time on the road. The successful candidate must be comfortable accessing all areas of ships and terminals including ladders and tanks.
