Aspengrove School is an independent, co-educational day school located on a stunning 40-acre campus in Lantzville, BC, on beautiful Vancouver Island. We are a Junior Kindergarten to Grade 12 International Baccalaureate (IB) World School offering the PYP and MYP Program and a personalized graduation program enriched through Advanced Placement curriculum. Aspengrove School is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Orton-Gillingham (OG) Teacher to provide structured literacy intervention for students with learning differences, including dyslexia. The successful candidate will work as a key member of the Student Resource Team and deliver explicit, systematic, and multisensory instruction aligned with Orton-Gillingham principles, supporting students in developing strong foundational reading and spelling skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver individualized Orton-Gillingham instruction

  • Assess students’ literacy skills and use data to inform instruction

  • Develop and implement structured literacy lesson plans

  • Monitor progress and adjust interventions as needed

  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, resource staff, and families

  • Maintain clear documentation of student progress and programming

  • Support a positive, inclusive learning environment

  • Maintain regular, professional communication with parents regarding student progress, milestones, and strategies for home support.

  • Provide detailed progress reports at the end of each term or grading period

        Qualifications
  • Orton-Gillingham training (Associate, Certified, or in progress)

  • Degree or certification in Education, Special Education, or a related field

  • Experience working with students with learning disabilities

  • Strong understanding of structured literacy and phonics-based instruction

  • Excellent communication, organization, and collaboration skills

  • Experience in a school-based setting is an asset
