About the Role

 

The Staff Chef plans, prepares, cooks, and serves all staff meals at Moutcha Bay Resort, ensuring nutritious, high-quality food for employees, managers, and contractors. Reporting to the Executive Chef, the role manages the staff culinary program, menu planning, dietary needs, kitchen organization, and sanitation standards. 

 

Key Responsibilities

·        Oversee and execute the staff meal program for lunch and dinner (up to ~60 employees).

·        Plan weekly menus with the Executive Chef, accommodating dietary requirements.

·        Prepare two hot meals daily using standard recipes and maintain timely service.

·        Set up and stock stations; prep ingredients for current and future use.

·        Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked staff kitchen.

·        Conduct inventories and coordinate supply purchasing within budget.

·        Follow FIFO, reduce waste, and support food cost targets.

·        Ensure high standards of food quality, presentation, and sanitation (VIHA compliance).

·        Complete cleaning duties including dishwashing, sweeping, mopping, and sanitizing.

·        Oversee seasonal opening/closing procedures and assist with budget planning as requested. 

Qualifications

 

Required

·        Legally entitled to work in Canada

·        At least 2 years professional cooking experience

·        Food Safe Level 1

·        Excellent organizational skills

·        Computer literacy including a strong grasp of Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel

·        WHMIS certification

Preferred

·        Red Seal certification or equivalent

·        OFA1 (Occupational First Aid Level 1)
