Production Manager
Job Summary
The Production Manager is responsible for leading all day-to-day cannabis cultivation operations, ensuring production targets, crop quality, and compliance standards are consistently achieved. This role drives operational efficiency through effective planning, team leadership, and continuous improvement initiatives. They also partner cross-functionally to align cultivation output with overall business objectives while fostering a safe and high-performing work environment.
This is a hardworking, hands-on, rolls-up-your-sleeves environment emphasizing a team-oriented and collaborative style. It will be key for the candidate to embrace change and see past obstacles with a focus on solutions in the context of a company undergoing rapid growth and ongoing functional integration.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Operations & Production
- Oversee daily cultivation operations to meet production targets, crop schedules, and quality standards
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to align outputs with processing needs
- Plan and optimize labour, workflows, and room utilization
- Monitor crop health, environmental conditions, and yields; troubleshoot issues to maintain productivity
Quality, Compliance & Improvement
- Ensure compliance with Health Canada regulations and internal SOPs
- Partner with QA to maintain and improve processes, training, and documentation
- Track and report on KPIs to support data-driven decisions
- Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective actions
- Drive continuous improvement, innovation, and cost efficiencies
Planning & Coordination
- Support forecasting, inventory management, and ordering of cultivation inputs
- Collaborate across departments to ensure accurate reporting and alignment
- Develop staffing schedules based on operational needs
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing cultivation team of approximately 60 employes with support from Supervisors and Team Leads
- Provide performance feedback, support training, and address employee relations matters
- Partner with HR on recruitment, workforce planning, and performance management
- Maintain accurate time and attendance records
Health & Safety
- Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with health and safety standards
- Support audits, workplace improvements, and return-to-work programs
- Conduct regular floor walks to maintain a safe, clean, and organized environment
Additional Responsibilities
- Support departmental reporting, projects, and initiatives
- Contribute to research and implementation of new cultivation techniques and technologies
- Provide hands-on operational support as needed
Qualifications
- Minimum two (2) years experience in a management role overseeing a large team
- Experience in highly regulated industries such as Pharma/Food/Beverage/Cannabis preferred
- 2-3 years of production experience preferred
- Education in operations management, business, or a related field would be a strong asset
- Highly proficiently in computerized environment; SAGE, Payworks, MS Office
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a well-developed professional manner and a focus on positive, productive business relationships
- Self-starter, who works independently, takes responsibility, and demonstrates integrity
- Must have meticulous attention to detail
- Must have access to reliable transportation to work full-time hours as scheduled (40 hours per week)
- Must have the ability to provide a criminal record check that is clear of any charges that could be related or have a direct correlation to the position or company
Job Details
Reports to: Director, Cultivation
Position Status: Full time, permanent position
Hours of Work: Regularly Monday - Friday, 6:30am - 3:00pm (summer hours) or 7:00am - 3:30pm (winter hours), subject to change as needed due to operation needs
Location of Work: Full-time onsite
Salary: Starts at $65,000 annually
