POSITION SUMMARY

TNDC is seeking Heavy Duty Mechanics to support operations at the Skeena mine site in Northern British Columbia. Reporting to the Regional Fleet Manager, you will work a 14/14 rotation in a remote camp environment, performing preventative maintenance and major repairs on a variety of equipment, including heavy-duty, light-duty, auxiliary, and stationary mining equipment.

You are safety-focused, adaptable to remote work conditions, and bring experience maintaining equipment in mining or industrial environments.

Responsibilities:

  • Inspecting equipment, troubleshooting, and planning sequence of repair operations
  • Investigating deficiencies and equipment malfunctions
  • Following maintenance procedures to ensure all equipment meets specifications
  • Cleaning, lubricating, and performing other routine maintenance work on equipment
  • Servicing attachments and working tools as required
  • Ensuring proper reporting, documentation, and clear lines of communication with supervisors
  • Attending toolbox, safety and other meetings or discussions as required
  • Participating in any other specified training
  • Other related duties as required

Qualifications

  • Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic Interprovincial Red Seal Certification
  • Welding Certification is an asset
  • Maintenance repair experience and knowledge with Caterpillar is preferred
  • Knowledge, understand and practice safe work practices
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and able to use diagnostics
  • A team player that works well with others

Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to team members, especially local Tahltan workers, by sharing technical skills, safety practices, and industry knowledge in a respectful and culturally aware manner. Support the growth of the Tahltan workforce by helping build capacity, promoting safe and effective work practices, and ensuring that knowledge is passed on to strengthen both the team and the broader Tahltan community for the benefit of current and future generation.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Role requires the ability to safely perform physically demanding tasks such as lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling materials and equipment, in compliance with WorkSafeBC standards.
  • Ability to pass a mandatory pre-employment drug and alcohol screening
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license required
  • Valid WHMIS Certification preferred
  • Valid Occupational First Aid Certification (OFA) preferred
