AI Solutions Developer
Dawson Group is looking for a AI Solutions Developer who will identify opportunities across our businesses that are suitable for AI – from repetitive processes to the judgment-heavy tasks that eat up a specialist's week – then build the agents, integrations and tooling to deliver them, reliably and at a cost we can measure.
In this role, you will be a valued member of Dawson Group, working in the permanent full time position of AI Solutions Developer, reporting to the Digital Systems Manager. You will work in two-week agile cycles, taking ideas from proof of concept to something our teams depend on. Your base location will be in Kamloops, B.C.; however, Dawson Group embraces distributed work, meaning the successful candidate will have the flexibility to work from home and/or at our office.
- AI driven workflow automation. Find the friction in how our teams work, then use LLMs, APIs and business logic to remove it, with measurable improvements in team output and speed.
- Agentic solutions and integration. Design, build and run agent and automation workflows that gather data, analyze trends, and produce business outputs with traceability, connected to the business systems our teams already use.
- Rapid delivery and adoption. Work in two-week agile cycles, mature the proofs of concept that prove out, and help the rest of the organization actually use what you build.
- Staying current in a fast-moving space. Track how AI tooling, models and agentic frameworks are evolving, test what is worth testing, and bring the useful parts back to Dawson Group with a clear recommendation.
- Identify and solve high-impact micro-problems within the first six months, driving measurable improvements in workflow efficiency and team output.
- Orchestrate AI driven workflows that gather data, analyze trends, and produce business outputs with traceability.
- Build integrations between AI workflows and our core business platforms so information flows without manual handoffs.
- Deliver working proofs of concept on two-week cycles, then mature the highest value ones into stable, maintainable outputs.
- Keep a running record of AI implementations and wins across the organization, including what was automated, what it saved, and what it cost, so we can show value is being created.
- Know whether what you shipped is still working: evaluation, logging, cost per run, error handling, and a clear path for a human to step in. Help maintain what you have built.
- Act as a trusted technical partner, translating business needs and operational pain points into practical AI and automation solutions.
- Serve as an internal reference point on AI tooling knowledge and standards as they evolve in a rapidly advancing field, helping teams adopt what works and steering them away from what does not.
- Handle company and client data responsibly inside automated workflows, with appropriate controls and permissions.
WHAT YOU BRING
- A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent hands-on experience in automation, integration, or applied AI.
- 1 to 2 years of experience building software, automation or AI solutions, including work that other people relied on day to day.
- Proficiency in Python, along with working proficiency in JavaScript and Node.js.
- Hands-on experience integrating LLM APIs into real solutions, including tool calling, structured outputs, prompt and context design, and retrieval or RAG patterns.
- Familiarity with current agent tooling such as Hermes Agent, OpenClaw, Grok Bot, LangChain or LangGraph is an asset.
- Experience with workflow automation platforms such as n8n, prefect, zapier, power automate, etc
- Practical experience working with APIs, system integrations, and cloud-based business platforms, for example CRM and collaboration systems, and with GitHub for source control.
- Daily use of modern AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, or GitHub Copilot.
- An understanding of how AI solutions fail, and how you guard against it: evaluation, monitoring, cost, data handling, permissions and prompt injection.
- A genuine habit of keeping up with a fast-moving field, and the judgment to tell a useful new tool from a passing trend.
- Ability to translate ambiguous business problems into clear technical requirements and practical solution designs.
- Strong communication skills, able to explain what an AI solution does, what it costs, and where it needs a human, to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- A self-directed, curious, and proactive working style, comfortable operating independently in a work-from-home environment while staying aligned with team goals.
- Legally entitled to work in Canada on a permanent basis.
