Coop/Student - Full Stack Developer (On-site)

We have an upcoming opportunity in the Software Development Department as a Full Stack Developer co-op student, working alongside the engineers who design, build and support the machines themselves.

Every machine we build sends data home. Weights, field locations, unload records and diagnostics travel from a controller in the field, through the cloud, and into the apps that farmers, dealers and our own support team rely on. As a student on our applications team you will work across that whole path: the interfaces people use, the services behind them, and the integration points where embedded controllers, mobile apps and cloud systems have to agree with each other. We work in Laravel and Vue, Rust, PostgreSQL and .NET MAUI, but we hire on how you think rather than on what you have already used.

Availability: 4-month or 8 month co-op term

In This Role You Will

• Build features end to end, from the interface a customer sees through to the services and data behind it.

• Work on the APIs that connect our field equipment to the cloud, where the controller on the machine, the mobile app and the web application all have to agree on the same record.

• Help design integration points between systems that were not built to talk to each other, including our equipment, our web platform and the software the rest of the business runs on.

• Solve the problems that come with equipment operating where connectivity is poor: syncing, conflict resolution and making sure nothing is lost when a machine comes back online.

• Turn raw machine telemetry into something a farmer can act on: dashboards, reports, maps and exports.

• Contribute to cross-platform mobile apps that pair directly with equipment in the field.

• Design database schemas and write queries that stay fast as the data grows.

• Write tests, review code and ship through our CI pipeline.

• Take part in planning, standups and demos, and present your own work to the team.

We’re Looking For

• Working toward a degree or diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field.

• Experience building something real on either side of the stack, with any modern framework. We care that you have shipped something, not which tools you used.

• Comfortable with SQL and relational data modelling.

• Git, and the habits that come with working in a codebase other people also touch.

• Able to reason about a problem end to end, from the browser through the API to the database.

• Curiosity about the physical side of the system. The data in these applications comes off a real machine.

• An asset: TypeScript, PHP, C# or Rust.

• An asset: Docker, CI/CD, cloud infrastructure, or any experience running what you built.

• An asset: time-series or geospatial data, mobile development, working with APIs or hardware, or a good eye for interface design.
