Position Overview

The YMCA of Saskatoon is seeking an enthusiastic and community-minded Recreation Coordinator to support the delivery of summer recreation, wellness, and fitness programming. This temporary Canada Summer Jobs funded position will assist with the coordination and day-to-day operation of recreational activities for youth, adults, and families.

Working closely with Health and Fitness staff, the Recreation Coordinator will help create a welcoming, inclusive, and engaging environment that promotes healthy living, community connection, and positive participant experiences. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with people, has strong organizational skills, and is passionate about supporting community-based recreation programs.

The recreation coordinator will

  • Assist in planning, organizing, and delivering summer recreation and fitness programs for youth and adults
  • Support fitness instructors by preparing program spaces, setting up equipment, and ensuring materials are available for each class.
  • Greet participants, provide basic program information, and help create a welcoming, inclusive environment for all ages and abilities.
  • Monitor program areas to help support participant safety and help instructors manage class flow.
  • Help coordinate registration lists, attendance tracking, and basic program documentation.
  • Assist with promoting recreational activities through simple social media posts, bulletin board updates, or distributing schedules.
  • Provide on-site support for special summer events, outdoor fitness sessions, and community wellness activities.
  • Help maintain recreation equipment by completing simple cleaning, organizing, and safety checks.
  • Collaborate with Recreation and Aquatics teams to support cross-department programs when needed.
  • Offer feedback ideas to improve participant experience and support program development.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to enhance the delivery of summer recreation services.

Qualifications:

  • Must be between the ages of 15 and 30.
  • Must be a Permanent Resident, Canadian Citizen, or refugee.
  • Must be able to provide a clear Criminal Record Check.
  • Must be able to work the the entire duration, from June 29-August 21, 2026.

Job Types: Full-time, temporary, 35 hours per week
