Senior Accountant

Dawson Group is looking for a collaborative temporary Senior Accountant who will be assisting with the sale of a business.

In this role you will be a valued member of Dawson Group, working in a temporary, full-time position of Senior Accountant, reporting to the Chief Financial Officer.  Your base location will be in Kamloops, B.C.; however, Dawson Group embraces distributed work, meaning the successful candidate will have the flexibility to work from home.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

  • Reconcile purchase price equation from the sale of business assets to existing balance sheet reconciliations and generate closing entries.
  • Identify and record additional closing accounting entries for post close purchase price adjustments negotiated in December and early January
  • Prepare and review December month-end financial statements.
  • Prepare 2025 year-end assurance working papers for our external accountants to perform Review procedures on.
  • Coordinate and prepare additional working papers, receive and respond to questions required by the Review accountants to support the preparation of the external financial statements and tax returns.
  • Ensure all pre and post year-end adjustments are recorded in the business' accounting system.

In addition it would be very helpful if this person could also manage the AP process for Dawson Group with the 3 AP clerks, including:

  • Management of the day to day activities of each AP clerk.
  • Set up of new vendors in Netsuite/Sage when appropriate.
  • Working with the Treasury accountant to set up AP payments using EFTs and cheques as required.

You will work with other highly experienced professionals and be part of a team dedicated to providing value added services to all operations groups and building on a track record of success.   

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Bachelor of Business Degree or Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting
  • Minimum 4 years of accounting experience
  • CPA preferred; candidates in the final stages of their CPA may be considered
  • Exceptional Excel Skills including proficient use of pivot tables and formulas
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Payables management experience would be an asset
  • Industry experience in construction/manufacturing would be an asset
