Key Responsibilities:
- The Prep Party: Master the art of the chop, dice, and peel. You’ll transform raw ingredients into the building blocks of a masterpiece using standard kitchen equipment. Prep ingredients as per the recipes and kitchen needs. Ensure food is prepared in a timely manner. Prepare and cook menu items according to recipes, quality standards, and presentation guidelines.
- Station Stewardship: Keep your workspace sparkling. You’re the guardian of the "mise en place," ensuring everything is in its right place at the right time. Set up and stock stations with all necessary supplies.Maintain a clean and organized workstation, adhering to health and safety regulations.
- Efficiency Engineering: Anticipate the Chef’s needs before they even ask. Whether it’s a clean sauté pan or a fresh bunch of cilantro, you’re already on it. Support with any additional duties assigned.
- Ticket Management: You read the board, manage the flow, and execute orders with speed and accuracy—even when the rush hits full force.
- Atmosphere Architecture: Maintain a "sunshiney" attitude even when the tickets are piling up. You are the thermostat that sets the temperature for the team’s morale. Work collaboratively with the team to ensure smooth and efficient operations. Perform daily and deep cleaning tasks in the kitchen to maintain a hygienic environment.
- Code Keeper: Follow health codes like a compass. From receiving and storing inventory to adhering to temperature requirements, you enjoy maintaining a high standard for food safety and health codes. Assist in receiving deliveries and putting them away in appropriate storage areas. Adhere to all food safety and sanitation guidelines,
- Tempo: You communicate clearly, move with urgency, and stay in sync with the kitchen crew to keep service smooth from start to finish. Support the chefs by measuring and mixing ingredients and performing other food preparation tasks as directed.
What You Bring:
- At least 1 year of kitchen and food prep experience (preferred).
- Thorough understanding of various cooking techniques, procedures, commercial equipment and health code standards
- A passion for healthy, organic foods and all things SunLife.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and time management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality food.
- Ability to stay energized and efficient in a fast-paced environment, while keeping a positive attitude and handling multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Must be familiar with the measurement system.
- Must be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time and lift up to 30 pounds.
- Flexibility to work weekends, early mornings, evenings, and holidays.
