SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE:

The Senior Project Manager provides overall management direction for existing and new projects and establishes project objectives, policies, procedures, and performance standards. They manage financial aspects of contracts to protect the Company’s interest and simultaneously maintain good relationships with clients.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

•Performs electrical design calculations (i.e., low/medium voltage power distribution systems, lighting, security/fire systems, data/telecommunications systems, etc.), sketches, technical comparisons and similar technical work as required by assignment.

•Performs site investigations.

•Coordinates project assignments with those of other Engineers and Project Managers in their group.

•Reviews drawings supplied by vendors, clients, engineers, architects, and recommends necessary changes.

•Research code issues and works with City, State, and County officials.

•Research design options and documents findings.

•Creates circuiting for power and lighting plans.

•Creates one-line diagrams and electrical room layouts.

•Performs load calculations and completes panel schedules for power and lighting plans.

•Performs voltage drop and short circuit calculations.

•Specifies appropriate lighting fixtures and performs lighting calculations and other appropriate details for projects.

•Designs low voltage signal systems and telecommunications infrastructure design.

•Assigns drafting tasks to CAD Technicians.

•Prioritizes workloads and estimates timelines for completion to meet project deadlines.

•Manages construction administration phase of project.

•Estimates hours to complete the design requirements of a project.

•Ensures the preparation of accurate, complete, and value-added work by ensuring contract compliance through working knowledge of project program, plans, specifications and change orders.

•Attends and represents the firm at project meetings.

•Identifies and aids in implementation of ideas that save clients and the firm, time, and money or that effectively solve potential problems/opportunities.

•Performs necessary research and analysis to deliver work accurately and completely.

•Reviews work against quality standards before review by others.

•Maintains accurate and orderly records, pays special attention to changes in project scope.

•Communicates with clients and project team members to assure shared expectations.

•Delivers profitable projects by being responsive to budgets and schedules; monitoring and quickly acting on budget deviations and extra service opportunities.

•Monitors and adjusts schedules and completes assigned tasks on or ahead of schedule

•Builds relationships – In interfacing with potential or existing clients, listens for and seeks out new projects that may exist or are being formulated.

•Prepares proposals on complex projects with subsequent project management responsibilities.

•Conceptualizes the initial design approach for a major phase of a large project or have the overall responsibility for the engineering work on a project of limited scope.

•Initiates the preparation of design, details, plans and specifications to be completed by others.

•Ensures and tracks productivity of subordinates.

•Prepares reports, conceptual plans or narratives describing the scope and proposed systems.

•Serves as technical advisor to junior-level project team members.

•Acts as an authority in the application of advanced concepts, principles, and processes in a particular electrical system.

•Performs additional duties as assigned by the Principal.


POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

•Advanced knowledge of Autodesk AutoCAD and Revit software, planning electrical power and distribution systems, Title 24 requirements, and completing forms.

•Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.

•Skill to interpret Architectural and Engineering documents.

•Skills to do lighting calculations with computerized software.

•Skills to perform advanced software based short circuit and voltage drop calculations.

•Skills to work with accounting software.

•Skills to be capable of working on several projects simultaneously.

•Skills to prioritize work and delegating tasks to Engineers and CAD Technicians Skills to maintain project status – keep the project status reporting system (database) current with the actions and changes.

•Skills to control costs as part of the management of each project to ensure that costs are kept in line with the original budget.

•Skills to be able to work within time schedule, project budget, and manage support staff to complete task in a timely fashion.

•Skills to build strong client relationships.

•Skills for strong management capabilities and project resource planning.

•Ability to provide and follow written and verbal directions/instructions.

•Ability to write and speak clearly and informatively.

•Ability to communicate, direct and motivate other team members.

•Ability to write and edit project specifications.

•Ability to recognize the requirements for requesting “Additional services” based upon changes to project scope.

•Advance circuiting ability for power and lighting plans.

•Advance understanding of the National Electrical Code, Fire Code, Life Safety Code, and Building Codes


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

•Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering. Registration as a Professional Engineer, and

•Ten years of experience in the design of all phases of power distribution, standby generation, lighting, and auxiliary systems (i.e., nurse call systems, data systems, fire alarm systems, etc.), and

*At the discretion of management, the following work experience may be accepted in place of a bachelor’s degree: Two-year technical degree and minimum of sixteen years of first-hand experience in the design of all phases of power distribution, standby generation, lighting, and auxiliary systems (i.e., nurse call systems, data systems, fire alarm systems, etc.).


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee must continually demonstrate ongoing sustained ability to perform these physical demands:

•Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

•While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.

•The employee frequently is required to sit, stand, walk, use hands and fingers, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, twist and turn body.

•This position requires the ability to lift up to 15 pounds.

•This position does require the ability to perform under stressful conditions and high-volume demands.
