Security Officer
Job Summary: The Security Officer is the foundation of API Services' commitment to safety and security. This position involves maintaining a visible and professional presence at a designated client site—typically a shopping center, apartment complex, or church. The primary role is to observe, report, and act as a deterrent to unauthorized or illegal activity, while also serving as a point of contact for the community members you are protecting. You are a direct reflection of our company's values of integrity, vigilance, and service.
Key Responsibilities:

Access Control: Monitor entry and exit points, ensuring only authorized individuals access the property.

Patrol and Observation: Conduct regular foot patrols of the property to identify and report safety hazards, suspicious activity, or maintenance issues.

Visible Deterrence: Act as a strong visual deterrent to prevent theft, vandalism, and trespassing.

Community Engagement: Interact professionally and courteously with residents, shoppers, and congregation members, providing assistance and information as needed.

Incident Response & Reporting: Respond calmly and effectively to incidents, document all activities in a detailed Daily Activity Report (DAR), and escalate situations to law enforcement when necessary.

De-escalation: Use verbal skills and training to de-escalate potentially volatile situations, maintaining a calm and orderly environment.
Qualifications:

Must possess a valid Ohio Security Officer License (or be willing and able to obtain one).

Must have a valid Driver’s License

High School Diploma or GED required.

Proven experience in a security or customer service role is highly preferred.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods.
