Position title: Finance Director or Senior Finance Director

Reports to: Chief Financial Officer

Classification: Full-time, exempt

Salary: $93,487 - $114,262 (Finance Director) or $112,185 - $124,650 (Senior Finance Director) annually

Supervises others: Yes

Opening Doors began in 1993 as a small refugee resettlement agency, and today serves 3,000 clients per year across our 5 program areas: Refugee Programs, Survivors of Trafficking Programs, Immigration Legal Services, Health Programs and Economic Prosperity Programs.

They have significant experience in nonprofit accounting and is proficient at managing multiple competing timelines. They have superior interpersonal skills that promotes collaboration and coordination with other departments in the organization, as well as strong supervisory skills.


The Finance Director will leverage their excellent attention to detail and analytical skills to effectively assist with program budget management, ensure the accuracy of information posted to the accounting system, identify financial compliance issues, and recommend solutions.

Responsibilities: The essential duties and responsibilities of this position include the following:


·       Manage day-to-day accounting and financial functions of the organization and its subsidiaries, including but not limited to: General ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit and loans, and payroll posting.

·       Supervise the accounting staff while fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and growth.

·       Oversee and manage the accuracy and efficiency of monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual closing activities and timelines.

·       Maintain compliance with organizational financial policy and procedures, as well as grant and funder specific requirements.

·       Oversee the verification, processing, and reconciliation of loan activities in coordination with the microenterprise loan team, including but not limited to loan disbursements, loan payments, and ACH transactions.

·       Assist in the management of cash flow, credit, and loan activities, in collaboration with the CFO and Leadership Team.

·       Prepare and analyze external grant reporting for accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards.

·       Develop, implement, modify, and document processes for recordkeeping and accounting systems.

·       Manage the process for external financial monitoring, financial reviews, annual audits, and annual tax form preparation.

Required Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or abilities required.


·       7+ years of demonstrated accounting experience in several of the following: Nonprofit accounting, nonprofit auditing and tax, government grant financial reporting, government grant fiscal compliance, multi-project cost accounting, operations management, human resources, payroll management of 50+ employees,.

·       Minimum 5 years of management or supervisory experience, overseeing at least 2 employees.

·       Experience with and understanding of GAAP and GAAS policies and procedures.

·       Demonstrated work experience with State and Federal grants, grant budgeting, grant billing, and compliance with Uniform Guidance 2 CFR 200 cost principles.

·       Strong organizational skills in a complex, multi-tasking environment and the ability to effectively manage multiple competing projects and deadlines.

·       Ability to make sound decisions and use accurate judgement.

·       Excellent computer abilities including Microsoft Office Suite, expert knowledge in QuickBooks software, and willingness to learn other programs maintained by the Organization.

·       Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or Economics.


Preferred Qualifications: The requirements listed below are not required but are desired.

·       Experience with small business lending and/or microenterprise loan programs.

·       Experience with Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) reporting, small business and microenterprise lending.

·       Experience supervising teams of more than 5 employees.

·       Experience in Human Resources activities.

·       Effective communication skills in one or more of the following languages: Arabic, Chinese, Farsi/Dari, Hmong, Pashto, Russian, Spanish, Tagalog, Urdu, Ukrainian or Vietnamese.

While performing this job, the employee is required to sit often and use their hands and fingers, to handle or feel and to manipulate keys on a keyboard, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, lift approximately 25 pounds on occasion, and to stoop, kneel, or squat, and drive on occasion. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
