GENERAL SUMMARY

The Director of Employee Benefits is responsible for overseeing all operational strategic, and personnel functions for a team in the Employee Benefits department.  

This role is key to ensuring the department delivers high-value solutions to clients while operating efficiently, compliantly, and with strong internal collaboration with other departments.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Leadership & Department Oversight

  • Develop and implement the strategic vision for the Group Health Employee Benefits Department in alignment with organizational goals.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with insurance carriers, TPAs, and vendor partners.
  • Proactively monitor carrier changes and industry trends to mitigate client impact and recommend alternatives.
  • Maintain strong partnerships to ensure favorable outcomes for both the agency and its clients.

Marketing & Plan Design Strategy

  • Accomplishes department objectives by managing employees; planning and evaluating department activities.
  • Maintains staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees.
  • Develops, coordinates, and enforces systems, policies, standards, procedures, workflows, and productivity standards.
  • Develop, manage, mentor, and maintain relationships with employees.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, AMS, and/or related software.
  • Ability to manage account related projects.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.  Carrier interactions are professional and productive.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and demonstrates attention to detail.

EDUCATION, LICENSES, AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 20 years of industry experience preferred
  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Associate degree preferred; Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Must have a valid Oklahoma Property & Casualty License
  • Experience with AMS360. Image Right, and Indio are preferred
  • Industry designations, such as CIC is required
  • Valid Driver's License
