Purchasing Agent

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Purchasing Agent is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and procuring materials, supplies, and services necessary to support company operations. This role ensures timely purchasing at the best value while maintaining professionalism, quality standards, vendor compliance, and accurate documentation. The Purchasing agent works closely with Operations, Sales, Inventory, and Accounting to ensure material availability aligns with production schedules, job requirements, and budget expectations.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Required
· Strong negotiation skills
· Experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain (construction or manufacturing preferred)
· Strong negotiation and vendor communication skills
· High attention to detail and accuracy
· Proficiency with ERP systems.
· Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Preferred
· Knowledge of building materials, metal, lumber, or construction components
· Experience with inventory planning and cost analysis
· Familiarity with freight, logistics, and delivery coordination
Communication
· Communicate clearly and timely with Operations, Sales, Inventory, and Accounting regarding material availability, lead times, pricing changes, and delivery updates
· Proactively notify the appropriate teams of delays, shortages, or issues that could impact jobs or production
· Maintain professional and consistent communication with vendors to confirm pricing, quantities, specifications, and delivery details
· Ensure all purchasing-related communication is documented accurately in the ERP system
· Follow through on commitments and close the loop with all involved parties
· Communicate cost-saving opportunities to leadership
Qualifications & Skills
· Experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain (construction or manufacturing preferred)
· Strong attention to detail and accuracy
· Ability to communicate clearly with vendors and internal teams
· Strong negotiation and cost-awareness skills
· Proficient with ERP systems and Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook)
· Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
· Organized, dependable, and accountable
Position Details
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Status: Full-Time, Hourly
- Compensation: 50-55K
