Job Description: Stainless Department Foreman

Department: Stainless Fabrication

Reports To: Production Manager

Direct Reports: All Stainless team members

FLSA Status: Full-Time, Non-Exempt

 

Position Summary


The Stainless Department Foreman is a hands-on leader responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the stainless fabrication team. This role requires managing workflow, materials, and people with precision and integrity. The foreman is also accountable for ensuring high-quality output and cultivating a team environment that reflects the company’s core values: Creative, Honorable, Respectful, Innovative, Synergistic, and Total Ownership.

The foreman will directly supervise the department’s Lead and will champion both operational excellence and the personal development of every team member.

Key Responsibilities


Leadership & Team Development

- Lead, mentor, and support the Stainless Lead and broader team to achieve departmental goals.

- Conduct regular one-on-one and team meetings to provide feedback, direction, and coaching.

- Set clear expectations and hold the team accountable for safety, quality, and performance.

- Identify skill gaps and coordinate training for continuous personal and professional development.

- Model value-based leadership in all interactions.

Production Oversight

- Manage daily workflow and ensure job assignments are understood and executed effectively.

- Collaborate with the Stainless Lead to prioritize production schedules and resolve bottlenecks.

- Monitor quality output and enforce high standards of workmanship.

- Maintain documentation for production status, timekeeping, and quality assurance.

Material & Inventory Management

- Oversee inventory levels and coordinate timely ordering and staging of stainless materials.

- Implement inventory tracking systems to reduce waste and support efficient production.

- Ensure materials are available, accessible, and organized to minimize downtime.

Safety & Compliance

- Enforce and promote a proactive safety culture that exceeds OSHA standards.

- Lead daily safety meetings and encourage team ownership of a clean, hazard-free work area.

- Ensure compliance with all internal protocols, state, and federal regulations.



Qualifications


Required:

- 3+ years of experience in stainless steel fabrication.

- 2+ years of supervisory or lead experience in a manufacturing or shop environment.

- Proficient knowledge and hands-on experience with MIG, TIG, and laser welding techniques.

- Strong understanding of stainless steel behavior, fabrication standards, and safety best practices.

- Demonstrated ability to lead teams with respect, accountability, and results focus.

Preferred:

- Welding certifications and/or formal training in metal fabrication.

- Familiarity with ERP or job tracking systems.

- Ability to stand and work in a production environment for extended periods.

- Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs. regularly.
