Camp Cook/Chef 2026
We are seeking friendly, dependable, and enthusiastic cooks to join our summer camp food service team! This is a great opportunity for cooks, chefs, food service professionals, or anyone who enjoys preparing meals in a low-stress, team-oriented environment.
Unlike traditional restaurant kitchens, our camp kitchen focuses on simple recipes, supportive teamwork, flexible scheduling, and creating a positive experience for campers and staff. If you’re looking for meaningful work in a fun community atmosphere, we’d love to hear from you.
At College Settlement Camp, you’ll spend your summer working with a diverse and welcoming team while helping provide healthy, enjoyable meals for children and staff in a beautiful camp setting.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare ingredients for cooking, including washing, chopping, and organizing food items
- Cook and serve meals according to approved camp menus and recipes
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen and dining area
- Properly store, handle, and dispose of food in accordance with health and safety regulations
- Operate kitchen equipment including grills, ovens, steam cookers, mixers, and microwaves
- Assist with inventory, food orders, and supply organization
- Work collaboratively with the Food Service Manager and kitchen team
- Support special events including cookouts, barbeques, and picnics
- Help create a positive, welcoming dining experience for campers and staff
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and recycling procedures
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in food service or a similar role preferred
- Current ServSafe Certification preferred
- Ability to multitask and stay organized in a busy kitchen environment
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional weekends or split shifts
- Comfortable working in a diverse camp community
- Positive attitude, patience, adaptability, and sense of humor
- Desire to make a positive impact on youth and camp culture
- Experience with large-scale meal preparation is a plus
