The Clinician (MSW/MFT/PCC) position is subcontracted through DHS (Department of Health Services) and ODR (Offices of Diversion and Reentry) to work with clients who are exiting from local jails and state hospitals to receive CBR (Community Based Recovery) services. The client population includes those with a history of homelessness, substance use disorder, PTSD, and significant mental illnesses including Psychotic Disorders and Mood Disorders. Most clients are court ordered to receive treatment and maintain medication compliance. This is a clinical role that does not involve case management responsibilities; Clinicians will learn to provide mental health services to clients who are experiencing significant mental health challenges and will learn how to provide excellent clinical care. 

Employment Expectations

  1. Serves and protects Christ-Centered Ministries / Restoration Reentry Residence practices by adhering to professional standards, policies and procedures, federal, state and local requirements.
  2. Maintains accurate documentation of service objectives and outcomes as well as other services in accordance with Federal, State, County and Christ-Centered Ministries / Restoration Reentry Residence guidelines.
  3. Secures client information and maintains client confidence by completing and safeguarding data. keeping client information confidential and in compliance with HIPAA standards.
  4. Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations including acting as a mandated reporter.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a caseload of clients (no more than 20) that need therapeutic intervention.
  • Complete biopsychosocial assessments to identify and address client’s needs.
  • Provide direct psychotherapy to clients and establish an individualized intervention/treatment plan or strategy to promote identified goals.
  • Provide individual and group services including individual psychotherapy, crisis intervention, group therapy, conflict resolution, advocacy, psychoeducation, coordination of services and discharge planning.
  • Provide clinical services using Harm Reduction, Trauma Informed Care, and the Housing First models.
  • Encourage and promote self-management and provide assistance to build self-management skills.
  • Maintain required documentation and update client records in accordance with governmental and agency policy
  • Utilize team approach, through regular collaboration with multidisciplinary staff of psychiatrists, case managers, medical staff and paraprofessional staff to ensure clients’ health care needs are sufficiently met.
  • Complete weekly court reports as needed
  • Participate in regular team meetings with both internal departments and external providers.
  • Participate in regular supervision, team meetings, case conferences and staff trainings.
  • Maintain registration, collect hours, and work towards licensure
  • Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Counseling, Psychology, etc.
  • Proof of Current License / Registration in State of California as an Associate Clinical Social Worker, Associate Marriage and Family Therapist, or Associate Professional Clinical Counselor.
  • Experience dealing with individuals experiencing homelessness, mental illness and substance use disorder is a plus.
  • Experience in social service setting with working knowledge of case management systems and planning techniques.
  • Knowledge of crisis intervention, Part-R, CPR and First Aid.
  • Knowledge of various Applications and Devices including but not limited to: Microsoft Office applications, Dropbox, Computers, iPads, mobile devices, etc.
  • Must have a valid CA driver license, have reliable transportation and a good driving record.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to present persuasively.

Physical Requirements

There is some walking, bending, and kneeling. Must be able to participate in moderate lifting of at least 30 lbs. or more (suitcases, packages, etc.). This position must be able to support client weight in case of emergency situation or client disability requiring assistance in walking, etc.

Workplace Environment

There is a risk of exposure to bodily fluids infections, contagious / blood borne diseases, and chemicals (cleaning agents), an exposed risk to varying, unpredictable situations (i.e., client behavior).
