POSITION SUMMARY:   

A Food Runner is primarily responsible for delivering food orders from the kitchen to customers’ tables rapidly and accurately.  It is this person who will maintain the cleanliness of the expo line, organization of order tickets, and communicate effectively with the BOH team. The Food Runner will also be responsible for the initial expediting of carryout and catering orders.  


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: 


·       Obtain and maintain a working knowledge of all food menus including carryout and catering menus.

 

·       Assure guests have everything they need on the tables after delivery of food. 

 

·       Ensures guests have proper silverware, napkin and share plates when delivering food.  

 

·       Keep the kitchen station clean and organized.

 

·       Utensils & steak knives polished and stocked.

 

·       Assist all servers, bartenders and managers with carrying of plates. 

 

·       Deliver all dishes in unison with the runner team

 

·       Communicate effectively and courteously with guests, and co-workers.

 

·       Perform calmly and effectively under stressful conditions.

 

·       Communicate food orders to chefs, paying attention to priorities and special requests (e.g. food allergies)

 

·       Promote an atmosphere of teamwork by assisting co-workers.

 

EDUCATION/WORKING KNOWLEDGE: 

  •  Two years' experience as a food runner in an upscale restaurant. Fine dining experience is preferred.

 

  •  Strong attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

 

  •  Excellent customer service skills with a friendly and approachable demeanor.

 

  •  Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.

 

  •  Be courteous, friendly and pleasant.

 

  •  Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and communicate effectively with colleagues and guests.

 

  •  Knowledge of safety and sanitation practices in a restaurant setting.

  •  Ability to handle a fast-paced, busy environment 

 

  •  Flexibility to work in shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required by the business needs.

 

  •  You have excellent communication skills, can stand for long periods of time, and are able to lift up to 25 pounds

 

  • Fluent in Italian Preferred
