Accounts Receivable (A/R) Clerk - Summertown Metals Contracting

Job Title: Accounts Receivable (A/R) Clerk - STMC
Reports To: STMC Accountant
Schedule: Full-Time | Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Location: Hopkinsville, KY

Position Summary

The Accounts Receivable Clerk supports the Summertown Metals Contracting Division Accounting Department (seated in Hopkinsville) by ensuring accurate and timely posting of customer payments, processing invoices, and maintaining up-to-date customer account records. This role plays a vital part in maintaining healthy cash flow and providing excellent internal and external customer service.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and send customer invoices in a timely and accurate manner.
• Record and apply customer payments to accounts.
• Research and resolve payment discrepancies and customer account issues.
• Communicate with customers and internal departments regarding account balances, billing issues, and payment status.
• Maintain organized and accurate records of all A/R transactions.
• Assist with monthly closing procedures and A/R aging reports.
• Support other accounting team members as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree in Accounting or Business preferred.
• 1–2 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience, preferably in accounts receivable.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage, or similar).
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
• Other accounting duties as assigned.
