Job Summary: The Field Safety Supervisor will be responsible for actively monitoring and enforcing safety protocols on a project site, ensuring all workers comply with health and safety regulations, conducting safety inspections, providing safety training, investigating incidents, and reporting any safety concerns to management, all while working primarily on-location at a field site. 

Key responsibilities may include:

  • Site Safety Inspections: Regularly conducting safety inspections of work areas, equipment, and employee practices to identify potential hazards and non-compliance issues. 

  • Safety Training: Delivering safety training sessions to workers on site, including new employee orientations, refresher courses, and specific job-related safety procedures. 

  • Incident Investigation: Investigating all workplace accidents and near misses, identifying root causes, and implementing corrective actions to prevent future occurrences. 

  • Hazard Identification and Mitigation: Proactively identifying potential hazards on the job site, implementing preventive measures, and ensuring appropriate safety controls are in place. 

  • Compliance Monitoring: Ensuring adherence to all applicable safety regulations, company safety policies, and permits, including OSHA standards. 

  • Safety Documentation: Maintaining detailed safety records, incident reports, inspection reports, and other relevant documentation. 

  • Communication and Reporting: Regularly communicating safety concerns to project management, supervisors, and workers, providing updates on safety performance, and reporting any serious incidents immediately. 

  • Emergency Response: Assisting in emergency response procedures, coordinating evacuation plans, and ensuring workers are properly trained in emergency response protocols. 

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Safety Expertise: Thorough understanding of MSHA and occupational safety and health regulations, best practices, and hazard identification techniques. 

  • Leadership Skills: Ability to effectively communicate safety expectations, influence behavior, and provide guidance to workers at all levels. 

  • Observation Skills: Keen attention to detail to identify potential hazards and non-compliance issues during site inspections. 

  • Problem-Solving: Ability to analyze safety incidents, identify root causes, and develop effective corrective actions. 

  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey safety information to diverse audiences. 

  • Technical Knowledge: Understanding of relevant equipment operation, and potential safety risks associated with specific job tasks.
